Ship UI/HUD needs adjustable opacity

Certain ships are a real pain for the HUD due to the semi-transparent nature of the HUD, combined with ship interior and background lighting. This could be fixed with adjustable HUD opacity, so that the background of the HUD could be as non-transparent as needed.

The photograph below shows this problem on the cutter. Can you read the cargo capacity? I sure as hell can't.

I agree, it bothers me too.

Still hard to read. I tried.

My HUD is blue. Fantastic for Asp Exp with brightness turned down low. Nice for long distance exploration trips. No good for Imperial Cutter especially when docked in ports. Turned up to full brightness, difficult to read in ports and not nice out in black space.

There should be a dimmer switch for ship interior lighting. Or an on/off switch. Similar to modern cars. Its not normal to drive a car with interior lights on.

It would also be really nice if ships came with two basic interior colors. Bright and dark. Whatever color, I don't care. That would also solve the issue and add a nice feature even for ships where it isn't as important.

I like the transparency, its just the dashboard is too darned bright. I assume the issue is from the big blue ring lights shining down on the shiny white dashboard. Dim the lights and splash old dark coffee on the dashboard. A white dashboard is weird. Are there modern cars that come with white dashboards? Pretty sure there is a reason why they are usually dark colored.

^^ above, I'd like to adjust the dashboard on my Cutter but I don't think I can. That would be a good solution, the transparency is not so bad on most of my ships.

+1 for the OP. The Cutter is bad. Its the only thing I don't like about the Cutter, very annoying.
Like a dummy, I'd look at the screen at different angles to make it easier to see but no, it doesn't work that way.

[ but not nearly as annoying and immersion breaking as those brighter than a sun / comet ships that fly around in SC ]
