Newcomer / Intro Ship with the longest jump range?

Which ship has the longest jump range with an A Frame Shift Drive engineered to Grade 5 Increased Range and the Deep Charge experimental effect?

I did that with my ASP Explorer and I'm getting 38 light years and man do I love it, but if I can do better with another ship I'm going to get one.

Anaconda

Mine does 66 or 68LY with a full tank - I'm pretty sure it's just over 68 with a full tank unladen. I've seen useless builds that can get over 70LY - stripped down with smaller fuel tank and no shields, can't boost, no SRV, etc.

An Asp Properly outfitted should get 55LY+

Not sure why but Coriolis seems to calculate the range incorrectly by a few LY low. My Conda is over 66 or 68 and my Asp is well over 55 when you view them in Outfitting.

I'm not home at present so I can't verify the exact numbers, but OP should be able to get the basic idea.

#1 Conda, but it's a bit like flying a brick wrapped in a thin slice of lemon

#2 DBX, but you will fall asleep while it scoops and the module slots are only just enough for bare minimum, and you sound like someone who doesn't pack light

#3 Asp, but 38ly is pretty rubbish for an explorer build

As others stated, you should rework your AspX, my all-purpose build for inside the bubble has significantly more jump range than that, and an explorer build does 50-55ly.

Edit: Also, Mass Manager is superior to Deep Charge on Medium to large ships, although not by much.

My Anaconda with x2 SRV in a 4H Hangar, 5D Fighter bay plus fighter, x2 AFMU plus cargo and heat sinks does 62.53ly. That's a 6A G5 Mass Manager FSD. Plus other mods such as 5A PP G5 Overcharged and Stripped Down, G5 Clean Drive 5A Thrusters and G5 5D Engine Focused Power Distributor. Others who have gone for a super lightweight build can get 70ly+

My AspX carries one SRV, a 32t Cargo rack, some Heat Sinks and the gubbins for scanning everything that comes my way but nothing else. With G5 deepcharge 5A FSD, 4D G5 Thrusters stripped down and a 3A PP G5 stripped down I get 49.95ly with a fully laden hold and a max jump range of 58.57ly. I'm sure there are far better set-ups but I tend to use my AspX as a Bubble-bouncer collecting materials, running the odd mission and generally to-ing and fro-ing around the place.

38ly could easily be improved, although its already enough to take you anywhere you want to go, but as mentioned previously it does very much depend on what's in your suitcase for each trip.

All things being equal, the Anaconda can and will have the best range.

You’re going to need to re-think how the ship gets built up, not just G5 FSD and hope for the best. An effective long-jump explorer build has a bunch of D-rated (weigh half as much) and/or undersized (weigh…less) modules, and anything that can get the lightweight mod usually does.

You can skimp on powerplant and power dist because your power requirements will be low (no weapons; little need for shield); you don’t need a [good] shield; thrusters can be downgraded (usually), etc.

Post your build on Coriolis or ED:Shipyard like the other posters have done and we can give you more specifics.

The question is what do you want to do ?
My ASP Exp. in Exploration setup makes a bit more than 50ly now.
Sure the best suggestion is an Anaconda but as we are in a newcomer forum thats maybe a ship thats quite too expensive for now.
If you want a full equiped ship with all A-Rated and full of weapons ASP Exp and then Anaconda are the best choice, DB Exp maybe too small but has a good jumprange too.
If you want more range with your ASP you have to sacrifice some weight. Smaller Powerplant, less or no weapons and so on or specially engineered for low weight modules.
But for a full equiped ship i think 25 - 30 LY are actually a great range you can get with most ships. All depends what you want to do.

So, with a fully optimsed ship (Anaconda?), what's the max range in total on a full tank before needing a refuel? (Ignoring scoops for the moment).

Even such a clear and unambiguous question like this has many answers. One person even made it to Sag A* with a setup that just about squeezes into your parameters, although I am sure thats NOT what you were after.

To answer it in the spirit of the question, without NS Boosts or Synthesis, 200ly-ish (3 jumps at about 65ly each) - Maybe 300ly if you can get 4 jumps out of it.

Don't forget, use Google to search for information too. I came across a fantastic way to cross the galaxy, by using the 'Neutron Highway'. This allows you to jump hundreds of light years.

I concocked this for ya. Notice it doesn't have anything but cores. And that the fsd has been fully engineered. It is as basic a ship as your gonna get with the max range of 37.33. Adding or other mods engineered and or changes to the cores can get you more and or less. All depending your purpose. I've also found out that most of the time the actual range one gets is higher (slightly0 then what is depicted using this site.

I rethought the design of my Asp Explorer. Primarily I use it to travel between engineers and then have the ships I want to work on shipped to a station near my engineer so I don't need all the A rated modules. Now I'm getting 47 light year jumps.

The first thing I tried was just putting D ratted modules on everything except the FSD and a few other things and was getting 49 light year jumps. I drove around for a few days testing it and then changed some of the modules to iron out the problems and that took it down to 47 light years, but I'm satisfied with that.

Thanks all!

I have a DBX with a range of 58+ that I use for the same purpose - just to get to the action & then transfer a good ship. After reading this thread I think I'll strip down my anaconda. Thanks for the info, guys!

I'd like to see your build, I just might need to get me a DBX.

I too have DBX in the hangar with over 55Ly jump ranges (different accounts) - thing is, they stay in the hangar. Mainly because they are 1 slot light / short but also the 4A scoop feels so pedestrian. (Plus I think they look horrible. :O )
