Ship won't land so I can load SRV

I'm about 2 months into the journey to Colonia and did a surface landing to gather mats yesterday and my ship won't land. I've relocated and recalled and even reset the game a couple times... no go. Every time, the ship will get about 5 meters from touchdown and then take back off.

Any suggestions?? Did something else change with the chapter 4 update? I've been away for a bit.

Try loging out and restarting the non-Horizons base game. Elite Dangerous.
It should give you the option to restart in orbit. Accept that then swap back to Horizon again.
That method works on PC so it should work on console. Good for if you get SRV stuck in a hole somewhere ;)

I just logged back in and I had no such option, it put me in my SRV on the surface. Gonna try to recall. Fingers crossed!

Ship landed fine this time. Not sure why it kept doing that yesterday, even restarting the app didn't help. We did have a small patch today but nothing in the notes about this.

I had this happen to me right around Christmas. Sent off my ship, recalled it, it landed, then it popped off the ground and hovered. The SRV bay was open and appeared active, but I was unable to board.

Since we can't turn off Horizons on PS4 to kick us back to orbit, I ended up having to self destruct the SRV. It's made me a bit skittish about landing and deploying an SRV while out with DW2.

I recall there being a fix in the past that would have ships hover to help with difficult terrain and SRV boarding. When it happened to me, the ground was flat as glass, so no idea what occurred. Tried restarting the game, popping to different game modes, winging up and having someone try to push my ship into the ground, but no dice. When we pushed the ship down with another ship and I drove under to the SRV bay, I got the landing site not clear warning and the ship took off.... dragging the Anaconda that was on top of it a good 300m into the sky. My T9 space cow got to be a rodeo bull for a minute. :p

Sometimes this is a terrain problem. Position the SRV directly and perfectly under the SRV hangar bay and when you can see the "BOARD SHIP" selection in the SRV menu in Panel #4, select it. The SRV will be magically raised into the ship. o7

I was thinking I was gonna have to self-destruct and lose my ship and months of exploration data! Just losing the SRV wouldn't be too bad but I couldn't remember what all I'd lose. I'm kinda ok with the 4 million insurance for my Python, too, but not the millions in exploration data. I haven't touched a port in months.

I had the same on Tuesday.
I am currently on the DW2 expedition. I landed on a particular planet on Monday night (next to a particularly interesting codex feature) and logged out.
When I logged in on Tuesday, I went out to the codex feature, scanned it and then returned to board my ship and continue my journey.

My ship had disappeared (I turned around for a second....)
So I recalled my ship, it flew in and then landed...
for a couple of seconds before taking off again and hovering a couple of feet off the ground.

I couldn't dismiss it as it was still showing on my SRV panel as 'Ship Approaching.

I logged out / in a few times and each time, the ship hovered a couple of feet off the ground.
I drove a couple of KMs and still the ship would not land.

I eventually gave up, blew up my SRV and then the game reloaded me in my ship.

That is exactly what happened to me, Snowy.

Jabo, this wouldn't happen to have been in a T9? Common denominator between Snowy and my experience with this.

I've actually now done, apprehensively, 3 more surface landings today and everything has been fine so far. My ship never actually touched down through 4 attempts yesterday. It got within maybe 5 meters but never did land.

IDK, it kinda seemed like the ship thought it was on the surface when it never touched. I know a few months back I was on a planet surface where my SRV was clipping into the ground, like the visible surface didn't match what was coded. I'm thinking maybe this is similar and happens on a few certain bodies. Just a guess, though.

When I logged to try today my SRV was in another location. I knew because I'd found the closest, most level area I could yesterday and today my SRV was in a rough area but my ship still landed. Go figure.

You guys should be submitting bug reports about that, not just posting it in this section.

How do you disable Horizons on the PS4?

If you drive the SRV under the ship while it's trying to land it will take off. It's always done that to me since the PS4 launch years ago. Also as others say if the terrain is really bumpy the ship will stroke out trying to land. This is why I retired my Anaconda for exploration. It's just not worth the headache trying to get it to land plus it sucks to fly while in supercruise.

Hmmm have that problem too on difficult terrain particularly while grinding guardian mats those structure are most of the times on mountains and so.if reloging not work and my anni still troll me i move clear of the area and usually it works.will never ditch her for so little.
