I believe the ability to move ships from station to station should be implemented without the need for being physically present at either end of the transfer. Even if it took longer to transfer the ship due to getting messages across space.
In addition, due to the increase efforts to colonize far off systems (i.e., Colonia), being able to sign up for a window of opportunity for commanders to pay other commanders for transport to these stations would be interesting. I’m not sure how that would work as of yet, but I do think that if someone wanted to ship their ship to Colonia and have their cmdr travel out there as well over a time they set would be interesting. The formula could be set and based on timeframe and distance. Penalties for failures would also need to be high against the person who fails in case people accept the missions and never intend on going to the destination. This feature would need to be at set stations. They would also need a time window that cmdrs would need to remain at the station if they wished their offer to remain active.
All in all, this would most likely need to be a space legs idea, as it would be cool to have games and other type interactions on the ships as they flew through space on the journey (interactions between cmdrs). Space legs are not needed though. Once accepted, the player’s screen could simply be camera modes on the transport ships camera.
Time range would need to be selected by the commander who is wanting transport. Short time frames (minimum would need to be set by Fdevs), would cost a large amount of credits, and similarly, long time frames would cost less.
