Not sure if I'm missing a scenario in which some 3.0 special effect might outweigh giving up these legacy stats - full scenario and stats below, would appreciate any eng 3.0 theory crafters opinion --->
Python multirole / moderate combat, current shield and resist stats:
Shield: 1261
Kinetic: 45.1%
Therm: 36.8%
Explo: 54.1%
Legacy G5 Thermal shield booster (has NO special effect and can't put on new one without converting to 3.0)
MW draw 1.29
Shld boost 20%
Kinetic: -1.1%
Therm: 26.6%
Explo: -1.3%
Notes - ^^ as you can see, nearly perfect max ~27% thermal resist, with bit more power draw than 3.0 converted G5, but ~3% better kinetic/exp resists as 3.0 G5 is -4%
Can't apply special effect without losing legacy stats. Power draw not issue as plenty power left on Python G5 Armored plant. Was thinking putting on 5% more super capacitor effect but that would cost me ~5% kinetic/explosive from conversion plus negative effect of supercap, and another -2% thermal resist.
A perfect or nearly perfect G5 3.0 conversion would get me reduced power draw which I don't need, ~5% more overall shield strength, but lose me ~5% from both kinetic and explosive, plus lose ~2% from thermal.
Am I correct in thinking basically I'm giving up a swag aggregate total of 5+5+2 = 12% of resists for a 5% overall total shield strength boost?
For example I converted a G5 thermal which had bad legacy stats, applied super capacitors and rolled G5 almost maxed out is:
MW draw 1.20 (.09 better power draw)
Shld boost 26% (~5-6% bigger shield)
Kinetic: -6.1% (~5% worse kinetics)
Therm: 25.4% (~1.2% worse thermal)
Explo: -6.1% (~5% worse explosive)
Is there any new 3.0 special effect I could put on that would make converting this legacy shield booster worth it? I can't think of one so left it as is, but thought ask the forum.
