Should I stock up engineered modules before Beyond's release?

Hey guys,

I was thinking about stocking up on a bunch of bare bones G5 modules in preparation for the reworked system, so I can start them at G4. Anyone else thinking the same? Honestly I'm against the grandfathering system but if it's going to happen anyway, might save a lot of time from what I've been reading. You think it's worth it? or just wait and see how the new system works out? Kind of on the fence right now..

Sure. I already have 2 extra Pythons loaded with 1 roll G5 weapons of various types and SBs
Plus all my ships are engineered to G5, and I am 40/60 in outfitting, most of the 40 are engineered.

Seems like a no brainer if you already have the mats to do it. If you have to hunt for the mats to do it then maybe not so, as mat gathering will be significantly easier after the update.

Don't get me wrong, I like the new system - I've played with it a fair bit in the beta. But it's going to be quicker to G5 my remaining modules now - I'll then convert any that I want to max out when the update goes live.

IMO its a good idea if you have the mats. I have most of my modules already at G5. Even though I can not reengineer them, since there is no Engineer in Colonia.

Fly/land safe.

Yep, i have g5’d all my ships (where available) in the last couple of weeks, including seline jean, which bored me senseless unlocking her to be honest.
Seemed a no brainer to me, even did the ships i rarely use.
I am on Ps4, can’t wait for beyond to see the oldschool thargs make a return, tired of gettin wupt trying hopelessly to solo interceptors!

Same, I like how the conversions looked in beta. Also liked taking my current inventory and trading up and down for specific mats. I’ll convert everything over.

Questing for materials to engineer my ship is the journey I love in Elite.

If you do it, and I am with modules like FSD and Thrusters, only roll them once to G5. That way you don't waste materials.

But as far as I can see, it is not a disaster if you leave them until 3.0

That's exactly the reason why I'm G5ing modules now.
It will only save mats and time, and I can still benefit from the new changes.
