Should Keelback be faster than Cobra Mk III - aka smugler/pirate ship ?

First of all - by faster i mean 5-15 "speed" (whatever it is ?) faster than Cobra Mk III , not a crazy 600 or so .... Edit : or as CMDR Zadian Lichtfrost said not faster but the same speed as COBRA MK III

Should Keelback be faster than Cobra Mk III - aka smugler/pirate ship ?

Remember Cobra Mk III will have better maneuverability than Keelback.

Yeah so poor Keelback is a costly garbage right now, i just cant imagine who will buy it for other reasons than its look or sympathy for T6 ?

But only if Keelback will be faster than Cobra Mk III ? (Keelback will be several times more costly after all)

Just imagine, this will be perfect pirate/smugler ship, retrofited T6 , engines all around/ better weapons/ smaller cargo/poor maneuverability - beautyfull ship that has soul !

btw. FD should at least change skin on Keelback so it will look different from T6 ... or FD wont look lazy.

No.

Give it manoeuvrability that matches the rotational thrusters.
But don't ever make that brick faster than a cobra.

Or more cargo than a T6. Or bigger jumprange.

At the moment i see no use of this ship. But it looks good!!

But just imagine it will fit perfect for retrofited smugler/pirate ship - you know industrial look and so on , Keelback just need speed.........

Faster than a Cobra? Hell no. It's a flying brick (yeah, I know it's space, but...)

Faster and more maneuverable than it currently is? Hell yes! It's ludicrious that this ship is basically the same size and mass as the T6 (155 vs 180 tons base) has all those engines on the back, and is somehow one of the slowest and least maneuverable ships in the game.

And it doesn't even have to be both - I'd gladly settle for either. Faster ship or more maneuverable ship. There's another thread showing the various maneuvering ratings of ships, and the only things with a worse pitch have to fit on a Large landing pad. And it's also one of the slower ships in the game to boot.

That is not a ship that can defend itself, regardless of armaments. That's a sitting duck.

I've taken it into combat in various pirate scenarios, and have managed to survive against anything up to cobra size, but that's NPCs... and bad ones at that. Better AI and CMDRs will have no trouble staying behind the Keelback at all.

Given that it's role is supposed to be a trader with teeth, it needs something to give it a fighting chance -- either to run away or to fight back.

155 vs 180 tons base - 25 tonnes are these two additional engines on the sides ;)

Actually, the T6 only has two engines similar to what those ones one the side are - the Keelback has SIX visible engines if you include those ;)

But be honest - doesnt Keelback look like the first ship that Han Solo owned, before he could buy Millenium Falcon ? :)
