Should planet zoo just allow and give access to the modders

To let them come out with some reskin, animals and objects, fence and barrier etc.

Many of the zoo tycoon 2 modders have some advance designing skills. And some of the animal they make are very realistic and look exactly the real thing especially in zoo tycoon 2 game where the graphics is very poor...

In cases planet zoo developer and staff do not know.. There are many modders that release ton of reskin and actual animal for zoo tycoon 2 game.

I think planet zoo developer should work with them instead of blocking and banning them.

Some of my suggestions and ideas.

This way we players and planet zoo staff will be very happy and people will stop complaining and demanding for more animal in dlc packs. And they planet zoo can have more time in doing mainly bugs fixes and updates.

Like the idiom, Kill 2 bird with 1 stone

To be honest, not that modders are not talented, some of their creations are inpressive, but I will always prefer official content over mods.

I do not care if they add mod support, as I do not use any mods in my games, but I would certainly not want them to stop adding more animals/building pieces/features just because there would be mod support.

The problem is I’ve been on zt2 sites lately and it doesn’t appear to be many people designing nowadays. I know many people have mentioned AD designers coming to planet zoo and I kind of laugh about it. Not because they’re not talented but because they barely got time to design zt2 stuff I don’t think just because a new zoo game is out is going to make them design anymore or less. No offense but I’ve been waiting for the lion for eight yrs . Now I’m content with planet zoos lion and glad they came out with this amazing game. But as far as letting other people design is totally up to frontier. I don’t know design and coding but zt2 modders know everything about that game I imagine planet zoo is a little more complex in coding and what not. I say all this with respect to the modders of zt2 as they have made some great things but I personally don’t see frontier doing something like this for a couple more yrs if they did. And it’s really no different then zt2 dlc takes time and people will have to have patience.

Not in the current state. Some players are already screaming "bug!" where it is just bad management already. Imagine how many will scream "bug!" just because they forget to disable an incompatible mod.

If mod support will come,it's better if it will still take a while.

Like the bad management comment..
I agree, I think adding mods would only make things worse and people will scream similar stuff like "I used a bad mod and now i've lost my zoo - help !!"

I'd prefer official content over mods.
Mods allow for more cheating if you are unable to block this.
Also adding mods would make people buy less DLC. Why pay for something when some can create the same with a mod? So I don't see Frontier doing this anytime soon.

Don't get me wrong I like mods for some games. I only pick the high quality mods - you can easily mess up your game with 1 bad mod.
But when a game gets regular updates - that will conflict with a lot of mods.

Maybe when the game is almost dead - you can release modding tools to revive the game.

Like others said, I'd rather have official content.

Every time a update comes out, half of the mods are breaking the game.

To answer the question:
Should planet zoo just allow and give access to the modders?
No, they should not. They may if they want to.

I think the way this game is built, mods add way more opportunities for bugs to crawl in. Me, myself, and I only "need" mods when the developer doesn't listen to the community feedback or when the game becomes unplayable because of necessary, missing options.

Also, and now I'm taking the example from EA and their Sims franchise, mods seem to make developers lazy? At least that's my feeling, it comes off of as "we don't need to adjust this and put in man hours and funds, the community will mod it anyway".

Plus, whenever an update comes, chances of mods breaking are pretty big and that gets annoying after a while (although every modder's effort is, of course, appreciated). I won't use mods if they become available but I do respect the people who will.

I agree also I wouldn’t use the mods as well with all do respect to people who want them. I think frontier will do a great job on the game and then when the game is all wrapped up maybe then mod support possibly but for now no thanks.

I used modded skins for Zoo Tycoon 2 because the quality of the originals wasn't very good. Planet Zoo doesn't have that problem ... the animals are GORGEOUS.
I'd still love to see modders allowed to make some scenery objects for PZ, but I won't complain if it doesn't happen. The Steam Workshop is super nice and fulfills most of that need.
It would be nice if modders could make custom color variations for animals like wolves and reindeer, though. PZ promised more fur colors and didn't deliver what was expected.

I always like modding opportunities in games and would definitely LOVE to see it in Planet Zoo. In my eyes its a perfect platform for modders creativity to go wild.

I can see something like the Thememaker's Toolkit for PlanCo happening for new scenery items, foliage, rocks, etc. But that won't come until Frontier is done supporting the game with additional DLC, I would imagine.

I'm not sure that we can ever expect to be able to add new animals--or objects animals interact with--to the game. I'd love for that to be the case, assuming modders are able to do it in a way that comes quite close to or matches Frontier's quality, but... I really don't see that happening anytime soon.

The unicorn looks great and I know modders do great jobs but I still am perfectly content waiting for content from frontier. I loved the Arctic pack and realize dlc takes time. Another problem I have with modding is in zt2 there’s so much dlc that the game is easily pushed to its limits. I had so many mods on zt2 to get more I had to delete or save others in a separate folder. Plus some bugs caused from said downloads caused bugs that eventually some designers expected you to fix if it bothered you so much. And last then you get a group who do personal use downloads and although it’s their choice I suppose it’s everything that tears apart a community over time hence the current state of the zt2 community.

Mods are out of the question... If you feel there's a mod needed at this point, it's a design flaw..... Ui need lots and lots of work still.... I do feel like making bots to fix it ... lol... auto-send babies to trade... etc...
Tho, they did a user content generator for planetcoaster allowing peeps to import new 3d assets to the game. Since Planet coaster and planet zoo run on the same engine, it should be portable to planzoo quite easily. But forget about complex asset like animals, barriers or even bins... anything that have an active mecanic other than scenery %.

But first things first....they need to finish and polish the game.... ;)

I think mods are fine. However, is it's official, I do think it'd be worthwhile to have an in-studio gopher/stooge to just run them real quick to see if the game ends up crapping itself and give it some seal or something if it works. It shouldn't be that hard to get an intern to just sit at the comp and screw around for a few minutes during lunch or tea time.
