Should the basic ammo synthesis refill all ammo of a given weapon or half? Just looking to see where the community is on this, I would love it if the basic ammo synth did a full refill and don't see it unbalancing anything but I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter

Uh-oh I sense another "nerf" thread smoking here
Either i misunderstand you or you're confused. I'm looking to buff the first grade ammo synthesis by having it refill the entire clip instead of only half. I'm not overly interested in the higher grade ammo synthesis as they are too rare to get reliably but buffing the basic ammo synth could bring a lot of currently unused weapons into viability.

Ships use clips now? That's got to be awkward when it's time to reload.

Yeah, clip was probably not the correct word to choose but i think most will get my meaning. =P

Kind of like how it is now. You have to make a choice and be more specific on what you want to stack in your mineral inventory. This will be even more critical when 2.1 launches and you have to weigh ammo versus crafting. :)

Yeah ex military people like me cringe when I see the term clip instead of a magazine. A clip holds something together.

But even I wont really say anything about it on a regular basis.

I just had this mental image of a pilot trying to reach out of the cockpit and reload 6 multicannons on an Asp and couldn't help myself. LOL

I wasn't going to get into the whole discussion of clip vs magazine though. ;)

Yes. At least then the synth may have some minor use in PvE.

No, I like being able to "top off" instead of waiting until it is more or less empty to fill up.

I assume the cost would be the same.

Then people would complain that they "Wasted" all the ammo that was leftover in the magazine when they did the synth. 20 Rounds of cannon ammo left and I only got 80 instead of the full 100.... I WAS ROBBED!

The Devs lose either way, but if they leave it this way, it is less work.

So why would they do it?

Want full loads? Synth twice.

Because it takes (relative to what you get) a great deal of time to get the mats. Now that may change, but right now it is pretty useless for PvE. I see no reason to change the ones that add damage, but the ones that give ammo just let you stay out a bit longer assuming you aren't out of SCBs etc. If plentiful it will allow PvE players the option to use more kentic weapons (right now PAs, Cannons, and Multi-cannons are the only useful ones as the rest run dry way to fast for to little reward). That would be a pretty big deal and open up a good variety of gameplay for PvE players without actually having to add new weapons.

Absolutely, it isn't really a big deal for multi cannon ammo on a small ship but on larger ships with several hardpoints it becomes a huge deal.
Also the more expensive ammo like for rails uses mats that are for FSD boost. For me I'll always save it for that rather than refilling the paltry amount of ammo for a single rail gun.
if the mats were a lot easier to find in greater numbers it wouldn't be an issue, those rare mats are too rare.
