Ships Should there be a Type 9/10 Explorer?

Meh. On one hand the type 9 and 10 have relatively mediocre jump ranges. Especially if fully loaded with the kind of equipment needed for exploration. On the other hand. The number of fuel tanks you can strap onto them would certainly give them an impressive journey time before any need for refuel would rise. So in short i think its possible. But in the end you'll be taking the slow and scenic route wherever you go.

That said. Don't all ships have a detachable camera for just the thing your talking about? I suppose a good cockpit view for the sake of role-playing in game is cool and all but you can get just as beautiful a view with said detachable camera.

@OP check out this build. It's a type 7 with 58 LY jump range. Good Supercruise handling and everything you could ever want in an explorer.

This is why I've always been more interested in EVA capabilities than any kind of legs on planets. Getting the view without switching out of my first-person perspective. Being able to just jump over on a tether hooked up to that balcony on my ship, to bob about on the surface of peduncle trees or whatever. Some proper Expanse stuff.
