Voted YES - go for it, I dont see why not. Actually, now that I think of it - its surprising there is no pvp forum section already.

You mean like the OPEN/SOLO/PG threads managed to bring people together and stopping beating dead-horses like BGS separation between modes?

I'm sorry but that's not going to happen. If anything the rift is becoming bigger the more the two population are exposed to each other.

Which it was going to do regardless, because interaction between PvE and PvP players in ED only has one form: combat, which one side of the discussion is poorly prepared for.

The growth in the divide is a direct result of lack of cooperative gameplay features between the two groups, and no one is responsible for that other than FDev. Blame it on poor gameplay design.

So you have a choice: Either some communication, which is at least a form of communication which may eventually lead to something, the same logic behind keeping Israel and Palestine and the negotiating table..... Or none.

What do you think the result of none would be, both in the case of Israel and Palestine and PvP and PvE?

A suggestion, just rename the existing CQC sub-forum to Arena/PVP.

Problem solved and it would probably draw more people into it, forum wise and game-wise (that one is just a hopeless wish).
Nice suggestion, CQC needs to improve in popularity.

That's actually something on my consideration list right now within the Exploration, Guides, Suggestions and Player Tools forum section. Been quite a bit of activity for it lately. Granted, that forum category name will probably need to change a little bit. [woah]
Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it :D

Don't see why there shouldn't be a dedicated subforum if there is the demand.

I don't consider myself as belonging to specifically one group or the other, I just enjoy the game. So might be considered impartial.

No plans for a PVP-centric forum right now, even with a poll showing the demand. If anything, there's forums that need to be condensed / merged. Sorry.

I remember it was talked about.

Didn't you say that you wanted to add tagging to threads to make it better without using sub forums?

Ah yes, let's keep segregating the community into smaller and smaller groups, so that they can become more isolated echo chambers deaf to the rest of the game's community around them.

That always works.... Really brings everyone to a mutual understanding.

Mutual understanding!?!?
Which PvE vs PvP thread has even had a hope of doing that?
If that was a joke I missed it.

No. The last thing we need is another place for overzealous mods to dump threads that dont conform to their PvE mantra.

This is basically how I feel about this issue.

This forum doesn't need a subsection to further shunt PvPers away like ED's dirty little secret. It needs to put on some moderation that shares the values of the various PvP groups out there, to counterbalance our current forum climate which is primarily driven by Mobius & Solo players antagonistic attitude towards PvP and PvPers in general. Add a few PvP active moderators such as Rinzler o7o7o7 and I'd be willing to bet that PvPers would begin using these forums more to discuss their various thoughts, issues, and advice.

I couldn't agree with this more, and Rinzler as a mod here would be fantastic. He is already a moderator in the subreddit for Elite in which he does a great job in, and it's a good thing to have diverse moderators with different playstyles so they can look at things from different perspectives.

Yes. I do not see why not if PvP'er like to have one that is more than welcome to me. It surprises me thought that they want to have one.

Absolutely!

I'm not a PvPer, but I think it would be a good idea to give those into that mode a place they can organize PvP sessions.

Totally Out-of-topic subject, but the reason that a 2 states solution (in this particular subject) is preferred by most moderate parties, is quite revealing in the matter of international diplomacy/human nature.

Voted No - See no reason for it.

It would not change anything and if PvPers feel unwelcome then they only need to examine their own (as a group) forum (both here and elsewhere) and in-game activities to realise why they may be treated with any sense of hostility.

I would argue that it is only certain types of PvPers that are truly unwelcome (at least from my perspective and based on my observations).

[EDIT]Saying that - I have just noticed there is a CQC sub-section of the main discussion section. But that is a separate game mode so it's existence does make sense.

Main Game PvP is not a separate gaming mode in itself and nothing good would be gained by trying to establish some form of apartite IMO.

Any discussion about main-game PvP could affect anyone that plays the game whether they engage in PvP or not.[/EDIT]

It's related to this discussion :

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/323070-PvP-(Open)-commanders-not-welcome-on-this-forum

stating that PVPers are not welcomed here on the forum

A dedicated pvp game and forum ...yeah that would be great.

Most non pvp players are in game and not in forum.

If dedicated traders were laying about like pvpers with nothing to do they too would be in forum looking for stimulation they arent getting in game and pvp talk would be but a fading glimer comparatively.

I tend to think a PvP sub forum might be useful, but I do not really know.
I already keep out of most PvP discussions anyway, no matter where they get posted.
