Show "EXPLORED" systems in galaxy map

Do you want to know whether anybody has passed through each system, or whether any object in the system has a "first discovery" tag set? Or whether any object in a system remains unexpored?

While the server has this information, it might be expensive to send it to each player.

However, the game client already seems to know which systems you have a system map for, as this pops up in the context data on the Galaxy Map. Being able to highlight systems depending on whether you have maps should be relatively easy, and would be useful to explorers. This wouldn't tell you how much of the system you have in your map though...

I briefly thought that there was a filter for this - but it shows what system maps are available for purchase from the station you are docked at.

I like the current system as it contains an element of surprise! Finding a great system and then seeing that it is completely virgin territory is fun. And conversely, seeing that a system with great stuff has already been fully explored is disappointing. If you were just selecting the unexplored systems from the galaxy map, it would make exploration far more mechanical.

It would probably also mean that many beautiful systems would only be seen once - by the first explorer - and then never seen again. A pity.

Hi! I'm Zenith Ddraiglas and I approve this message! :)

Is it in fact your favourite message on the board? :p

Agreeing here, one of the things I like about plotting a multi-jump route is that it often jumps through a bunch of number/letter named systems, and 'New Astronomical Body discovered' as you drop in next to the star is always a little buzz, one small step etc :)

Don't really like that idea as I just completed my entire Ranger rank in side "known" space. I have found that systems which have been "found by" but not explored !
I am getting a little tired off so called "Explorers" who zoomed in and pinged and zoomed out ! And yes I also was guilty of that at the start but now I surface scan every thing under 100,000 ls and I have found that completing detailed scans of found entire systems makes your rank progression much faster.
If only I did that on my major trip I would be Elite by now. So to all the budding Explorers, surface scan All system objects and you will obtain Ranks quickly.

Cheers CMDR's, fly safe !

There was a suggestion a month or so ago in the explorer's forum to use something similar to the PP bubbles to denote explored space. I thought it was a pretty good idea.

I like the element of surprise so would just like an option to filter out systems I've already visited and maybe a way to plot routes avoiding visited systems which would be handy in dense areas

I would also like the ability to plot 2 routes. Example, I wish to survey between two stars and not stray too far from the path to the other star. I can plot 1 (start to destination) and still plot a secondary route to explore around route #1.
