I hate Rubik's cubes. I just can't get my head around them for some reason.

Anyway, I just changed my HOTAS mounts. Basically, I went to the Japanese equivalent of B&Q.

Yeah, we kind of went off topic with that cube thing...
I couldn't help laughing at the amount of G-Clamps and the makeshift brackets, it looks like there are more sharp edges there
than a cheese grater. But I suppose it serves it's purpose and since I am looking for a similar solution for my problem, +1 for posting this.
I am looking for ideas on how to save real estate on my desktop when I use the X-55.
Not only it takes up space, but it just isn't at the right height. It gets pretty uncomfortable on long sessions.
Looking at what you did there, wish I could do the same except my desk is L-shaped. (I am sure I have enough G-Clamps to replicate this.)
I am considering making brackets for the chair, to have the stick and throttle beside me, then of course there is the issue of cable length.
I welcome any suggestions anyone might know of, seen a thread, site with brackets or a pic of what I am after, I would appreciate it.

Actually, all the brackets are machined and rounded. I've given myself some pretty nasty scrapes before and learned that lesson!

I'm thinking about how to enclose the clamps now into something less clearly a bodge.

I do need to smooth the edges on the wood though - there are some pointy bits.

I have a couple of panels that I mount to the chair when playing on my projector - there are pictures earlier in the thread here.

Cable length should not be an issue if you get a few of these USB extender cables. Or add a powered hub closer to the seat.
In that case, I should be right, because I have both of those.
By the way, well done on that simpit you built, I followed the build before I was even registered here. It is quite impressive, I wish I had the time to
construct something like that, even though I am still thinking of doing it. Most of all I am impressed with the electrical side of it.

I thought of doing that, but I should have mentioned I am sitting on an office chair that's on wheels and has armrests. I am thinking of ditching the armrests and bending up some plates
and bolting them to where the armrests are bolted to. Then again, one of these days I might just get myself a projector and then just cut some panels to suit my armchair.

.
thank you! It s a very rewarding job. just a quick warning: build hours are deducted from play time, but the play time after completion is much improved. And, wether you succeed or not, you *will* have learned a few things along the way.

Just to keep things flowing....I added a 2.8" LCD screen (left side of panel-above MFD), a LCD character display (right side of panel-above MFD), and 8 RGB LEDs (4 above each of the previously mentioned displays). Everything is hooked up and functional. Still have room for a few more buttons and lights!

Love it! And well done for keeping this thread alive. Sadly the excellent http://elitecockpits.tumblr.com/ doesn't seem to be getting much love lately.
