I have a motion simulator that I use with the DK2. It is from Canada and called a "Dreamflyer" it is sold in black and orange. I've added my own flair to it, using orange felt, and hardware to mount surround sound speakers where the monitor(s) would typically be. A double camera mount in the front allows the DK2 camera and a webcam to see me / track me.http://twitch.tv/captainoculus

It's pure Ecstasy... and yes... I'm a pilot.

I play it with a projector on a 120" screen, with a second 19" Monitor on the left if i need aditional informations.

Man ... I see all these awesome setups, and I'm just sitting here :

20150728_214129.jpg

The computer is a Lenovo Z500 :
  • i5 3230M 2.6-3.2GHz
  • Nvidia GT 645M with 2gigs of VRAM
  • 8gigs of RAM

other than the computer itself :
  • A 5 years old Team Scorpion X-Luca mouse (very good and durable, I recommend it :) )
  • Cheap(est) microphone headset around the neck to talk with friends
  • 50 euro JVC headphones
  • And the most important : a digital watch to keep track of time and make sure I sleep enough

I'm able to play E: D in High presets at 45fps average with a few tweaks, which is totally fine for me.
When I finish school and find a job I plan on upgrading MASSIVELY ;)

i lowered the small tables for the sticks, it was a bit high.

also nothing beats G-sync!!! freakin love it!

Well it's finally happened, the wife got sick of my rig in the living room.
I used to happily laze away on the couch in front of my 47" tv, joystick & keyboard all wirelessly sitting on the coffee table when playing the game, but no longer, i have now been kicked to the bedroom.

Secretly i prefer this, (but don't tell her), and it was also a good excuse to get a new desk, headphones and a t flight hotas.

See my before and after.

Before.

Here's my set up (also posted in the elite dangerous top 10 thread on page 2)
_
I started off with a dining room with the PC tucked in the corner. Gradually it's 'Evolved' into what my Mrs calls the man cave lol. I moved the dining table out, a sofa in, then started to build it up from there.
_
I've made everything as unique as possible and gone for a black theme, with silver/grey and lots of blue lighting. There's over 150 LED's in the PC with 4 cathode lights, internal electroluminescent wires, plus LEDs under the desks, shelves, table, throttle and footpedals. Also, I've seen many acrylic custom side panels but decided to add a 200mm fan to cool the GPUs, infinity mirror of my initials, plus 80mm cooling the ssd.
_
It took a long time as the space in the PC was so limited due to the amount I've built in - even had to use a laptop bdrom as the pc versions couldn't fit (due to the top internal rad). It can't be seen but there's actually an Alphacool Monsta 240 rad in the bottom six drives, with a carefully positioned fan controller in front :)
_
The final upgrade was built for ED and with the intention of using VR in 6 months (hopefully!). The set up consists of:
_
CPU:_AMD FX-9590 8 Core @ 4.8Ghz
GPU:_2x EVGA GTX 780 ti sc (SLI)
RAM:_32GB G-Skill Trident CL8
Mobo:_ASUS Crosshair V Formula
PSU:_Antec Truepower Quattro 1200W
Sound:_ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1

Case:_Antec 1200 v3 customised to fit horizontal top rad, rear & 2x internal rads, plus side 200mm & 80mm fans.
OS HDD:_Corsair Force Series 3 240GB SSD

Finally done

I enjoy both flight/space sims and driving sims so I wanted to build a rig where I could switch between the 2 without too much hassle.

It's not perfect but I think it does the job reasonably well.

Flight mode:

Race mode:

The pods on the side are modular, the controls are built into shelves that slide into the pods and are then locked into place. No tools required and takes about 20 seconds a side.

The side pods will also rotate back to allow ease of entry/exit and the keyboard tray is on an articulating arm that will slide under the wheel deck.

I did make one big mistake though, NO CUPHOLDERS!

Currently trying to see where I can implement one.

Thanks for looking!
