Show Us Your Setup

Been meaning to post this for a while. It's very hard to photograph because it backs onto the wall.
Originally built the cockpit for car racing games. Mostly plywood and slotted dexion for adjustability.
Seat is a SAAS automotive seat. Monitors are triple 27 inch. The 2 side monitors sit slightly forward so the bezels can overlap.
Front speakers mounted above the 2 side monitors. Woofer is under the seat, and is a structural member. Amplifier screwed to left side forward of the throttle.
The arm holding the joystick is hinged at the back and swivels sideways for entry/exit.
PC is a core i7 with a single GTX970. Pretty stable 50fps.

That is a big setup!

I must admit though that the photos are very hard to see, I may be missing a few details.

My PC Corner.
Sticks not on the picture's, its a Fly 9 and a 3D Pro i use.
I also mostly play ED on a 47inch TV (4K downsampled) instead of the pictured monitor.

Yes, ED sounds awesome on those speakers :)

I must admit that the members of this community have built some truly amazing IRL cockpits. Since the photos get buried in this thread quite quickly, I browsed through the whole thread and added some of my favourites to a tumblr page. This way it's now easier for me to find those epic DIY battlestations for reference when upgrading my own.

Here's the page: http://elitecockpits.tumblr.com/

I haven't shared this link publicly before, so please tell me if you want your photo removed. Or added :) In that case you can either pm me or send the photo to elitecockpits@gmail.com. I try to curate the feed quite tightly. If this project seems useful for the community, I'll visit this thread regularly to fetch more images.

Fly safe and have fun building the stellar setups!

Thanks for adding me. I'd always promised I'd never end up with something on Tumblr but your idea is more positive than I had thought of. As with Brian I've done a few hardware updates and modifications to the rig so will be adding some new shots soon once I get the ambient reactive backlighting and additional 2 monitors setup (which could be weeks tbh). Cheers again.

Great idea, have some rep! Have subscribed to the RSS feed for updates. I love looking at some of these wonderful setups and getting very jealous LOL.

Good work! +Rep
Cheers for adding mine on there too. It's taken a lot of work but there's still a couple of improvements to be made.
Since my post 719 https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...=48&p=2727442&highlight=evolution#post2727442 , I now use a korfx vest :)
The next project will be to make an arm to come out from the desk which holds the tablet in the middle (where the ED centre screen sits in the cockpit).
Lastly, there's be the addition of an HMD but still torn between Vive and Oculus

Would love to see how your desk arm works out. Been trying to figure out how to attach one to my Aeron chair for a while for keyboard, gamepad and possibly laptop mounting but have yet to find a viable solution so far. Regards VR I'd seriously wait for the HTC Vive. I'm holding out for it and its due next month if only in limited quantities. By all reports the experience over DK2 is much better and with the addition of sensors we could end up with body part visualisation for added immersion. I'm sure Oculus will up their game but as it stands HTC have the crown and with Steam backing its looking good.
