I noticed it too.Now that another anomaly has been found, I went to check the signals in my FSS.
I now have 2 additional signals.
Currently at Oochorrs SZ-N d7-5, counted all signal sources (no belt clusters, no POIs) and i see 2 more signals.
Another stargoid have been found, maybe it is linked? (even if a third one could be around Heart Sector).
It could make sense if in all systems, 2 more signals (maybe 3 at next week?) were present in order to "reserve" space for them when/if they arrive. Or maybe fdev cannot add some signals to specific systems and has to do it at class definition in code?

If I remember correctly, after update 13 drops FD clearly stated "The Galaxy will never be the same again." I think this might be exactly what they were talking about.
Because there's a second flare anomaly. If anymore are added to the game then it's likely that you'll see an equal increase in the amount of signals detected.
Yep, this is gonna be highly annoying for us explorers in the black....

i have just detected a third extra signal. Cant confirm if third "Flare" though despite doing some searching. Maybe two are close together
Every system should have the ghost signals its part of the thargoid stuff.
The three are now located in their current systems, see the other thread about it. Interesting thing is, it took a week or so from the first to second, a couple of days from second to third, so I am expecting another one any moment now!
Yep, the third has also appeared for me. I don't think their source is still a mystery.
Theory......
They are basically confirmed to be eminating from the Stargoids (new Stargoid, New signal)
We never have seen this signals before
They are visible Glaxy wide
(therefor) The Goids are from another Galaxy (or Dimension if you want to go even wilder)

They do look like the spiral galaxy on the background of the galaxy map, that is out that way on the underside of the milky way. So I went on the main "red flare" thread and searched galaxy and found someone had proposed a "tinfoil hat" theory of Andromeda galaxy. But that according to nasa is a more curled up spiral like ours, not so extended arms. I'm second guessing him/her if that was Andromeda though the same one I'm looking at. Andromeda is relatively close as well and this one appears further than the one to the right. It may have arms as well, looked at from the proper angle
I still can't figure out a way the "Things" can appear to have arms extending out on the plane orthogonal to the line of sight (I have seen no picture of the anomales that appears to be "from the side"). Anyway it's how I arrived at the theory staring out that direction so much, doing a double take every time I see that thing
Not sure what you mean by this, Andromeda is certainly not relatively close by any measure. Andromeda galaxy already exists on the extra-galactic background and is recognisable from anywhere in the galaxy.
The extragalactic background, like the contents of the ED galaxy, is based on real astronomical data. Andromeda is actually the bright galaxy to the upper right of the galaxy you have circled there. I'm pretty sure the one you have circled is M33, the Triangulum Galaxy. There's lots of spiral structures in the universe, so I think it's a bit too much tinfoil to jump from "has spirals" to saying that the Thargoids are from any particular galaxy.They do look like the spiral galaxy on the background of the galaxy map, that is out that way on the underside of the milky way. Yeah ok I thought that must be it if either, since it is much closer. Even though, it was the other that caught my eye. The other poster had mentioned Andromeda, probably looking at the larger of the two. Thank you
But I am not asserting my pet theory is correct or likely, merely plausible and entertaining. I also had not even considered it was also Thargoids themselves if it is extragalactic, that is also plausible. Maybe they exciting the barnacles.

Sure it's speculation. But conceivably, another galaxy might have tech to notice the event and jump here and drop to the current superdupercruise velocities, analogous like we jump to stars and drop to supercruise.
I didn't mean to change the subject which is well understood that the signal sources are the anomalies. I was just excited to read the extra galactic idea again from Madavelo up there. Here.. passes around the Reynold's Wrap for your heads

Since it is my topic and I don't mind... don't worry
I think it fits the subject.And of course it is just a theory. For me I arrived at it more thinking about game mechanics vs lore.
We do not know where the Thargoid Homeworld is (can be anywhere in the universe)
We never saw this signal before
The signals appeared when the Stargoids appeared
unless this is a new invention of the Thargoids we should have seen this before (lore wise)
Not the only but one of the few logic explanations is that they come from elsewhere. At least, if it needs to fit in the story....
It opens a universe of new story options.
I won't be disappointed if it isn't the case, but I won't be surprised if it is either.
My theory is they will be some kind of colonizing or invasion ship, to introduce Thargoids to the FPS gameplay in grand fashion.
