Newcomer / Intro Silly questions that are not silly...

Sometimes I run into situations where I need to ask a question, but I'm sure my question will be seen as silly and/or stupid by others, so I won't ask the question. So. I'm going to ask a couple of those questions here, to see what answers we get. Feel free to add your own GAME RELATED silly question.

1. How come we don't have the ability to store mined ores or other found/looted items other than on our ship?

2. Is there a way to change the color of the hud (I have visual issues and the orange is very washed out and hard to see for me).

  1. FDev didn’t want us to have the ability to store stuff when the prices were low and then sell it when they were high.
  2. On PC yes at least for Horizons, just go to this bit of the forums and have fun. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...colour-color-configs-please-add-yours.259311/

1. There have been numerous requests over the years for storage - only available now if you have a fleet carrier.

2. You can edit a file to alter your HUD - there is now a more comprehensive utility to change many items colour, intensity and even supress things.

I use a technique shown in the thread No2O:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-configs-please-add-yours.259311/post-4011448

... basically you edit (or create) a file "GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml" in your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics directory.

The combination I use is called Mocha and basically gets rid of the neon orange but retains everything (some people have the sensor really messed up in my opinion).

content of my GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <GraphicsConfig> <GUIColour> <Default> <LocalisationName>Standard</LocalisationName> <MatrixRed>0.7, 0.08, -0.08</MatrixRed> <MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 1 </MatrixGreen> <MatrixBlue> 0.15, -0.15, 1</MatrixBlue> </Default> </GUIColour> </GraphicsConfig>

examples showing how the orange is now sort-of coffee but retains the red and green for enemies and allies:

1. that is called fleet carrier, costs initial 5 bils + 10mil/week to keep it work. That's the price, take or not.
2. Nope. You can find in EXE folder GraphicsSettings.xml, copy to "Graphics" config folder with changed name "GrpahicsSettingsOverride.xml" and change color scheme inside ...however, that will replace all colors, i.e. enemies may be blue and allies pink.

+1 for mocha and it works fine in Odyssey too

I'm disappointed. Those are not silly questions.

Here's an example of a question that might qualify:
How do I exit the station if I accidentally sold my advanced docking computer?
I press Launch and the ship does not fly out....

"It's basically a micro-sandwich — a high-efficiency filter and heat-exchange system. The skin-contact layer's porous. Perspiration passes through it, having cooled the body ... near-normal evaporation process. The next two layers . . . include heat exchange filaments and salt precipitators. Salt's reclaimed. Motions of the body, especially breathing and some osmotic action provide the pumping force. Reclaimed water circulates to catchpockets from which you draw it through this tube in the clip at your neck... Urine and feces are processed in the thigh pads. In the open desert, you wear this filter across your face, this tube in the nostrils with these plugs to ensure a tight fit. Breathe in through the mouth filter, out through the nose tube. With a Fremen suit in good working order, you won't lose more than a thimbleful of moisture a day..."

1. In real life sometimes things are somewhat weird. In 3307 it's much weirder. They still haven't made a proper navigation system, and the cruise control needs to be programmed before it works. That's just the way it is ;) At least there's fusion reactors and supercapacitors.

2. This one is really good, and I think it works with Odyssey as well. Haven't tried yet, but it was excellent in Horizons:
