Simple way to make the Stellar Editions much more appealing over Standard

I like the ship kit and paint on the stellar versions but surprised FDev didn't add the new *Pre-Engineered SCO drive now that it's available in game. It would have made a big difference because the titan drive is annoying to transport back to a station without a corrosion resistant cargo rack.

A Pre-Engineered SCO has no effect on any competitive gameplay and 3ly/ jump doesn't effect anyone except the player imo. If enough people agree it should be included maybe we can ask FDev to include these on future builds?

Please no pay to win debate regardless of where you stand on the topic.

The ship isn't one where jump range is a high priority. I won't even bother with a titan drive.
I propably won't even bother with the whole ship after the speed fiasko.

(Enough whining already to unnerv?)

You mean this?

From comments elsewhere the Corsair seems to have the same maximum boost speed whether it has size 6 or size 7 thrusters and that speed is lower than seen in partner videos and slower than the Clipper.

So maybe not.
It tops out at 600, on the nail, in-game. Just with C7 thrusters it can be made a lot heavier and still stay at 600 (945T with G5 DD/Drag)

I'd have expected it to be much quicker, given its base weight and huge thrusters. Not so agile in combat either... (or maybe that is just me getting old)

Yeah, it’s certainly not lived up to FDev’s hype about it. I like it, and so long as I imagine it as a Krait MkII competitor I’m happy. But it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when you think about what niche it was supposed to fill in the Gutamaya line up.

As for the OP, people already whine that it’s P2W, so why the heck not?

The Corsair, unlike the Cobra Mk 5 and the Mandalay which are unique builds is a copy/paste of the original Python and its derivatives.
I did a lot of testing yesterday with my 'standard' build. I have yet to see any boost over 600. Anyone who builds ED ships knows there's a hard cap speed, however this is a little extreme. The size of Drive/Thrusters is irrelevant. The performance with Dirty Drag Drives is identical to a Python 2 in the same configuration - Not tried Drive Distributors on a light build yet ;)
The only way to boost 'faster' is to use Advanced Thrusters which only exist up to size 3. Now making a size 7 on a Corsair, now that's something I could salivate over.

The only advantages is the previously 'unknown to me ' low slip Clipper flight model and six weapons whose output is slightly higher than the Mandalay, and lower than the Python 2.
Apart from that, it's not a shield tank and it has a low shield multiplier. Armour is higher than the Python 2, but nowhere near that of the Cobra 5.

My guess it is a Pirate ship as its name suggests. However I am a bit disappointed with its current parameters. It needs to be more distinctive in a performance paradigm. Maybe the low slip model will make a significant difference, but at the moment I am not convinced.

Probably the better thread for this discussion, before we completely derail this one…

It certainly isn't a competitor to the Clipper (apart from being Medium) and isn't particularly fast or nimble. I'll get some weapons engineered up and try it out in a Haz Res later.
Do try it there, it's a lovely, stable fixed weapon platform and after seeing just how much you tear out of ships with a full PA setup, I kind of get the point of it.

It's actually fun, so long as you ignore the Gutamaya badge and recognise that you're bringing a sledgehammer to a sword fight.

Tbh I'm buying early access to ships to show that I want the game to be on the market. If we want to make the Stellar pre-build ships version more attractive, first of all the buyer should have full freedom to choose the modules in the package. Of course I mean standard modules + possibly gardian modules, no engeenering pre-build. This would be 100% more appeling to pick more expensive version for me in addition to support game that we love.

Could you post a screenshot showing this?
No it was something I gathered from comments elsewhere, definitely not from watching a video as I don’t usually.
As I can barely keep up with the forums I am certainly not going to try and find where I saw that or got that wrong impression from.

I asked because I re-checked Cmdr Mechan's stream and noticed that in it the ship never got over 599 m/s either, so I was wondering if there's a stream by someone else that shows a much higher boost speed.
