Single Large Monitor or 3 Smaller Seperates

Hi Everyone

Ive seperated this into a post of its own...

On the Monitor Front is everyone using / preferring a larger single monitor or a 3 smaller monitor set up?

Just making sure I do the right thing first time!

Not got much to compare it to - but I have a projector and it's awsome. So glad I got it rather than any sort of vdu. If you have a blank wall you can use it may be worth considering.

I was going to get a cheap 40" samsung LED panel screen... still undecided tbh, for the price i guess i could get the IR piece of kit $140 odd dollars, so much for such a small piece of kit though..

I'm fine with my 27 inch monitor personally. 3 monitors and you may have to look at upgrading your vid card, or SLI to get favorable performance. I also use a Trackir, so not having multiple monitors isn't a hindrance.

Also, 2015 is hopefully the year the consumer version of the Oculus makes its debut. Then monitors are obsolete.

Three 24" Asus monitors here and they are great. Not just for this game, although I bought them for the game when I upgraded my computer. It's great having so much screen real estate when you are doing other things, multiple windows open all over the place.:D

Works for me anyway.

I'm playing on a 29 inch ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor, upgraded from a 24 inch 1920x1080. The ultrawide aspect ratio feels much better on the eyes with no noticeable hit on performance. Did have the dk2 but tbh it really is rubbish and went back to a flat screen, so much better.

I use a very inexpensive 40" LCD tv as my main display, and a 24" LED next to it for teamspeak and maps. With TrackerIR it's great with any sims I enjoy.

Look at the used market too, great deals out there for people upsizing to 50 and 60" and selling off their 30 to 40" tvs.

Screen res is 1920 X 1080 on the 40"

I have a proart 24" monitor and 2x 19" monitors flanking the sides - I only use the 24" for Elite the sides are great for other apps but have not even bothered to use them in game.
I'm also using EdTracker

I'm using a 1920x1200 IPS main screen and two smaller 1680x1050 side screens which I've had for years. Eyefinity is all about immersion so you really don't need amazing side monitors for peripheral vision.

Having 3 screens also means you can have 2 or 1 screen whenever you choose, for example when I'm watching football or F1 on the side screen or talking to somebody on Skype. Sure you could do that with one larger screen but constantly having to resize windows and stuff would be a chore. Also saves on power of course - my centre screen is 20W for example but those single large ones could easily be getting nearer to 50 or 60+ I suppose.

One 32" here as well but it's an older HD TV so it's only 720P.

I'm pondering the same question for a replacement as the lack of resolution is starting to annoy me, I'm thinking I'll probably go triple, although not sure if to do one 27in centre, two 24in sides or go for all the same size.

Or just go one 27in and buy a CK1 when they release.

If you're looking at going big, you could check out the new 34" 21:9 Samsung curved screen. I always thought and still do that curved TVs are a gimmick, but on a monitor you sit centrally at from a couple feet, they make a whole lot more sense. Ours will hopefully be landing christmas :D

My setup, a superb 42" Panasonic Plasma. Subwoofer, TrackIR, Voiceattack, super computer, X52PR. Its just like being in the cockpit :)

I got an Obutto r3volution home cockpit seat with 3x Samsung 27" screens at a total resolution of 7680x1440, powered by 2x GTX 770 4GB cards. It works very well and performance (everything max with MSAA) is decent, too (usually 40-60fps unless there is the usual stuttering around stations or when transitioning from space to the inside of the station). A triple screen setup is kind of perfect for ED since you got the side panels and the center panel in the cockpit so every physical screen has an actual 'purpose'. It's also very immersive. You do not notice the bezels when gaming so it's pretty stunning how you feel like you're really there in your cockpit flying in space.
If I had to build a new triple screen setup now, I believe I'd go for 3x ASUS 27" VN279QLB. It's got a reasonably responsive VA panel, has received very favorable reviews and comes with super-narrow bezels. Seems like the current perfect choice for a nVidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity setup. I've actually had a single one of those on my other (work) computer and can confirm that it is a very decent display.

I use my PC for "normal" stuff as well as gaming so I prefer triple monitors to a OR, and a single monitor will always give you a narrow view regardless of how big it is. I've got 3x Philips 21" screens running on an AMD R9-280X, and ED's auto graphics thing sets my game to "ultra" settings, with me getting around 60fps on a 6096x1080 display - sure can't complain about that. :)

I'm running a 23" Samsung, with another one that's 21" to the side. I play on one screen, and keep track of my market notes on the other.

try an ultra wide (2560x1080), a 3 screen setup is pretty expensive and you really want to source screens with tiny bezels.
personally i currently run a 24" iiyama(1920x1080) for game,i have a 20" dell(160x1200) attached to my second computer sat to the left for forums/out of game tools/etc.

6096x1080? not 5760x1080(3x1920)? where does that extra 336 pixels come from?
