Wrong email link

The original Standard Beta backer email that went out only linked to your account, not the shop.

Go to the shop, login, and look at the "My Donwloadable Products" and it should be listed there with a download link.

Also, I couldn't get it to load from my Window 7 32bit. Went to my other 64bit partition and it works fine.

Awesomeness abounds.

But can't get past the Delta wing mission...boo hoo.

keep pluggin dude it took me a fair few tries!

Once you downloaded the launcher and let it download the rest of the game you shouldn't need any internet use to play the single player missions. Just start the launcher then log in with your account and will take you to single player missions. Hope that helps and have fun.

Sorry Affront this information is wrong!

For a start the installer is about 40Meg, and the main program is 2Gig. Also the program uses the internet connection to verify itself so you need to have a connection to play the game though the use is very low during play (possibly zero)

So for all those on poor rural, or mobile internet connection links good luck!

My hint: do as the BT advert says and go round a friends house! If they are not Elite backers they most probably want to have a look at the game anyway, it'll be a good advert and get you playing!

Nice to be able to play this at high definition with all the bells and whilstles enabled on a laptop! Well done !

Alright, thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to practice in the first before taking on the Patrol.

Getting annoyed was one of those feelings I didn't want with this at all too.

A tip I picked up also is, when you get to the second scenario is instead of shooting the solar fluke in his sidewinder use him as a wingman, follow him every where, try to keep same distance behind him, match his movements and so on.
One of the many things I have trouble with is trying to get back on his tail after he has gone past me in combat. I know the damn theory but my stupid hands push the stick the wrong way and panic the throttle to full or slow to stop. Keeping it on that blue bit is difficult.
So now I am deliberately overtaking him, to simulate him attacking and passing behind me then trying to get on his tail again as quick as I can. Its a bit boring but I am oh so slowwwly improving, and I kill him 9 times out of 10 now.

Dear Betaists...

To save some pain, some advice for you...

Before you got hurtling into the scenarios check out the controller options and configs and make sure you have the keybindings in place (not all are in place - boost, gear and the menu navigation come to mind if you use the X52 Pro profile for example).

In the first scenario, the waste canisters, don't get too close to the canister you're trying to destroy... If you find that it's not being damaged reverse away a bit until it does get hit as the guns are calibrated oddly (or were).

You can approach the other scenarios with a bit more abandon...

Go forth and enjoy! :)

PS : The search function is your friend... use and abuse your friend.... :D

As I am one of the "newly minted" betaists, I am finding it difficult to know what is supposed to work vs. what is known not to work yet. Are there any concise lists of features that do not work so I do not spin my wheels?

Two examples:

1) Though my brand new Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X is totally recognized and working in game, I'm having a hell of a time getting it to save any custom mappings and retain them for subsequent sessions. The Controls GUI instantly crashes E:D when I click any button on the joystick after selecting the item I want to change with the mouse. I have searched the forums and discovered the Custom.bind file and made many tweaks to that XML that result in bindings I like, but they get lost/clobbered every time I start a game unless I copy that file into the designated spot in the file system immediately before I start the game.

2) If I complete the first couple missions and take a break, shouldn't it remember that I have completed the missions. Currently I am having to start over with waste disposal every time I start the game.

You know, silly stuff like that...

TIA

I have supercruised there in a couple of seconds! :) I'm also a happy combat build player. I guess it was just a bug or a hidden feature.

Supercruise doesn't work with me, because I'm Standard Beta I suppose.

Shooting the fluke is strangely reminiscent of the Spectrum version all those years ago, trying to take out a wireframe Cobra pirate with all its twists and turns, how the hell I managed to shoot anything with the 4 keys on that rubber keyboard is amazing.
