Sirius rank 5 bonus - 8 weeks eplorations - 433 M

Let me get this straight:

I have to pledge to a power for the bonus, aye?

I'm almost at 4k systems and, if I can pull off my entire planned route, will likely visit something like 20-30k total. I'm having a hard time guessing because I've had to backtrack quite a bit.

So I pledge, sell enough of my data to buy the commodities and get to Rank 5 for the 200% bonus, and then sell the rest of my data for a massive profit?

Yes, that would work. (i.e. buying power cargo and delivering it., but you need a ship with good cargo to do it to avoid getting crazy (200+),
this is 10K tons to deliver after all. I did it with trade conda, so it was bearable.)

I see no problem with the +200% bonus, as exploration is really in the low for credit making, I just don't like that it counts for the rating.

For nebulas, switch off everything on the map, the zoom till you see the 100lyr grid and then move arround in a spiral pattern.
Nebulas will be displayed in the square where the pointer is. The hard part is not to find them, but to find clusters of them.

Next trip will be UA/Formidine related I think.

Will see for screenshot of stats, but I already spend quite a lot of it on ships :c

I'm headed out that way at the moment, slowly (still 2500LY from Heart and Soul), let me know if you come out and maybe we can meet up for a photo-op. Not sure if I will try to come back before the Sirius CG ends or not, I might just stay out here.

Not sure i think of it as an exploit. Many bang on about there being no money making opportunities in PP, this kind of proves that wrong...

Well done OP!

I think it's the ranking that is a problem for some, especially those that have taken months to reach Explorer Elite. To see others possibly fast-track themselves to that top tier must rankle I guess. As far as the extra cash, I would never grumble at that :)

I expect it is an unintended side effect, I mean they've pretty much halved the time it takes to get to Elite which isn't really cool. When they increased Explo profits in 1.2 they also increased ranks so I expect this may be changed in the future.

Even that wouldn't really be an issue if you got the bonus via exploring rather than just buying it (if you have enough exploration data to sell some to buy the merits then you would likely get to Elite anyway).

Right now, if you've got 100m credits to spare then you could get Elite in exploring by expending less than 60 hours game time. We've already got something of an issue whereby you can get Elite in less than 100 hours by neutron farming compared to 250+ for reasonably optimised general exploring but this is just ridiculous.

What I would like to see is the possibility of earning merits towards this bonus by selling exploration data. Have 4 weeks for the rank cycle just for this one reward. The reward itself then starts next time you sell data and continues for the next 24 hours allowing explorers to go out on a really long trip if they want. Does that sound workable?
