Slavery?

Apologies if this sounds pompous, but there's no way to make slavery sound tasteful or amusing. Instead of the distant ancient Egyptians, think of the Burmese Railway (that some players relations may have been forced to have a part in), or cannabis farms, or trafficked labour.
I've always considered FD's attitude to this subject rather glib.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid that slavery is the future of man and already the present.

My father did work as forced labour during the war. He was one of the lucky ones, in Germany. He always said that he was treated decently enough.

I've always liked the way slavery is portrayed in the game, I can remember congratulating Michael Brookes a few years back about how he'd managed to balance Imperial Slavery to make it sound like it's almost palatable. This is a game. There have to be some sorts of conflicts. The only thing I don't like about the slavery mechanic is that it seems unfinished. There should be big dividends for slavers willing to deal in human cargo, but that money should be balanced by the risks taken with such an appalling trade. Anti-slavery should be a much more encouraged mechanic. There should be places in the galaxy that will award big time for those who go out of their way to free slaves
