Proposal Discussion -SLAVES in ED universe-

I work alone aboard ship, seeing as i am an Imperial agent. Even us Imperials have a sense of humour (although if a slave called Spartacus did board my ship i might be a little worried! its more likely to be psykokow dressing up again!)

NO! i fear none, again they are treated well, but a friendly warning i dont let go of my cargo so easily, no matter how your false good intentions might be!........:p

Thank you for your warning friend. And I hope your "cargo" is as well treated as you say, because if it were to wander off into my direction, then we may end up with a bone of contention.

Yes your slaves are so well looked after and so contented. Is this why you fear a mutiny by your slaves?

I am just a humble miner. I wouldn't go down to your planets looking for trouble. But if I were to receive a distress signal from slaves who had commandeered an Imperial vessel and were asking for refuge, I would do everything in my power to help them.

Everything.

You mine for humbles? Aren't they are type of pastry product?:D

My father was a proud, loyal slave who managed to work himself to the status of citizen in only 25 years. Starting out as a Navel Lint Extractor he finished his bondage as a Naval Missile Polisher before opening a small boutique for trendy shackles and slave wear. He put me and my two sisters through pilot/trading school with the money he made and eventually retired with my mother to a newly acquired vacation world. Their ship was destroyed on-route by some Federal barbarian who was looking for an easy kill.
I'm Dominus of House Purcell now and I intend to bring status and wealth to my family - all for the glory of the Emperor of course.
You Fedders think that minimum wage, exploitive tax, social stagnation and corporate control equate to freedom? Your culture thrives on exploitation but you deny it with twisted notions of equality in all social classes. Absolutely crazy!
Keep your so called level playing field (and humbles) on your miserable side of the border.
:)

Shut it poo face!! Me and my onesie'll kick your butt back into slavery!!

off topic slightly

Did you know that Holding a person in slavery became illegal in the UK on 6 April 2010.

The slave trade is in Elite. In the Empire, it is quite normal. There are also large space ships in Elite. The crew can contain up to 12 people, I believe in Frontier Elite II. You have to pay the salaries. Will you do the slave trade ? You would like to use slaves as crew members ? Which you will dispense to remunerate ... Other uses for the slaves ?

Please see a poll I ran some time ago which you may find useful :)

All morals aside slaves are trade and if that trade happened to be worth more as fertilizer i'd have no problem ejecting them all, turning around and re-scooping them for a few extra credits  Although to be honest I never used to really carry slaves as I found trade runs that made more money with more moral goods :)

And I thought I was evil! :p.......I was the same in org Elite, very rarely bought slaves, I found computers, furs even food to finish off a load was more profit. Its finding those rare really profitable trade runs with minamal danger that count.
Ps you down the Thargoid for one later? ;)

Fellow Founders, what is the official standpoint for the 'Elite' on the slave trade?....people are obviously going to ask! :)

I would expect we need to come up with a stonewall noncommittal response that would stump even Jeremy Paxman...

er hello ;) I ran a poll on this very topic several months ago. Please look at topics started by me and you will see a range of answers etc etc

I think I remember it Capt. Hook. Were some people saying that Founders had an obligation to be 'good' and should be penalised if they were 'bad'? If so, lot's of people objected to being forced into a role that may be at odds with their profession, ethics or allegiance. I totally agree with this.
Slavery is legal in the Empire. Slaves are a trade good/commodity like any other. The economy is built upon it, to my understanding, and that economy drives the most sublime, artistic and noble culture in the history of Humanity:p
Being a Founder should be separate from game actions, IMO. Being a Founder is more about being a pilot/sailor in Space and the challenges and adventure this brings. Not to mention the camaraderie.
Getting angry about slavery should be translated into your game play not into the game rules by having restrictions placed upon you for being a little bit naughty; be ye pirate cruel 'o' slaver cold!;)

The things I mine you don't want to bite down on. I laser asteroids and harvest the debris using a fuel scoop.

I'm sorry for your loss. But it weren't me what killed them. I'm not Federation. We traded our rocks to whoever would have them, I may choose an allegiance at a later date, once I have a ship. I've also lost family. It was a Thargoid ambush. They're the real enemy, not other humans.

But it pains me to see folks treating other folks like they's less than human, it dehumanises themselves. And it's usually folks what got treated badly that feel they got the right to do it to others. I just hope it's something you Imperialists can grow out of.

I thank you for your sympathy.
I hate to see unnecessary suffering too. Think of the dispossessed on Federal worlds, think of the families scratching a living, buying products and services on credit. Think of the controlling corporations; crushing all sense of community or social adhesion with empty promises of personal progression. Federal citizens try to buy their status and identity, as if such things were a consumable commodity.
Not so in the Empire. Here you must earn status through deed and action. Money has an association of the faecal about it, necessary but filthy. Everyone has a place and a purpose - some are at the bottom, some at the top. It's possible to elevate yourself in your life and improve the lives of your children, who could elevate themselves (and your name) even higher. It is the Family, not the individual, that dominates Imperial Culture. This concept cumulates in its essence with The Emperor and His Family.
You should join us, Frank.:)
