Proposal Discussion -SLAVES in ED universe-

There are several DDA topics on slavery and the trade thereof. In a nutshell, once the slave trade is implemented, if you want to free slaves, the first thing you need to do is get a valid ID for them. Likewise, if you want to smuggle slaves, you will also need a valid ID for them.

I thought there was a revised slavery topic too. But I didn't see it. (Breaks over :( )

You should ask a moderator (by reporting your own post) to move this to Beta Discussion forums and make it a [Discussion Proposal] or whatever the prefix is if you want the answer from FDEV.

As for the idea itself, I think it's a great one. I would love to see this option included in game.

Either release them at the station or at a starport on a planet (later on, when landings are available).

Thanks, i'll try to do that!

Edited: But when reporting, there is an advise "Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. " Maybe I can send a mp better, or open a new post in Beta Forum o Features Forum?

Your new thread was closed, don't worry, just explain why are you reporting it - or if you don't want to, send a Private Message to TJ, who locked your other thread and ask him to move this one over.

It's interesting :), but I can't read anything about direct freeing. I'll search more topics about slavery, thanks!

I'm a new standard beta player :) Sorry for my english in advance.

Capital "E" when referring to our language, you scum!!!!!!!!!!!

:)

Sorry, that passes as humour in angus world. ;) Looks to me, like your English is very good.

Excellent question and one that had occured to me with Frontier or Elite, but I'd forgotten all about it.

Reputation and chocies play a big part in the game, and collecting a slave pod presents an excellent opportunity to rescue somebody, or leave them to die, or be an active part of the slave trade.

They really shouldn't leave it as just picking up "the cargo" or leaving it.

Actually, apparently slavery in the Empire is different to what we know it as, in that slaves aren't forced into slavery, but choose to do so, in order to pay off a debt. With that in mind, by freeing them, you're probably not doing them any favours.

And I'm lunch now, so I was able to find the revised slavery topic.

And if you want to be a Neo-Abolutionist, please stay out of Imperial space. The last NA who tried to "rescue" me ended up with a bullet in the gut and a bounty on his head. I neither asked to be freed nor my ship to be attacked. I worked hard to get where I am today, and I didn't appreciate their attempt to make me break my trust with my master.

Great Information!

And a great and logical quote from the old Conan Film in that Topic name.

Slaves and Passengers

Trading in slaves affects various reputations, such as increasing criminality
Commanders can purchase fake IDs as data chits
Using a cockpit interface a commander can apply an ID to a slave filled stasis canister/passenger cabin containing Imperial slaves which converts them into free passengers
When docked, a commander can offload such passengers to local immigration, for increased humanity reputation and increased reputation with factions that oppose slavery
Some humanitarian contacts can take delivery of such passengers, for increased humanity reputation (and improved relationship with the contact)
Imperial slaves do not in general view being freed as a good thing; they can be offloaded when docked, but there is a chance (based on commander reputations) that they will issue an Imperial attempted murder crime against the commander that frees them (the commander still gains increased reputation with factions that oppose slavery, but loses reputation with the Empire)
For every slave freed there is a chance that a reward encounter can be generated at some point in the future.
Once applied, a fake ID cannot be removed on ship
Commanders may use illegal services at various docks to remove an ID from the system, turning a passenger/freed slave into a slave (or make a stasis canister carrying slaves/passengers read like it's carrying another commodity)
Any canister containing slaves but marked as something other counts as illegal goods in systems where slavery is legal if detected
Any canister containing slaves but marked as something other counts as attempted murder in systems where slavery is illegal if detected

Thank You Very Much.

Don't worry. There will be enough illegal slaves to free before :D

I'm a new standard beta player :) Sorry for my English in advance.

Imagine, that I manage to destroy a Pirate or a wanted smuggler. And the ship wreckage let floating a cannister or what else, with slaves as cargo. I don't want to destroy the cannister and kill the slaves. Also i don't want to sell the slaves in a station Black Market. I want to free them. How can I, please?

I want to play the good guy role too!:D

I think this might be part of a larger mechanic around handing over seized contraband to the authorities. At the moment if you come-across something illegal then you either pick it up and become a trafficker or leave it be, but I imagine there might be the possibility to turn it over. The mechanic would need to be able to distinguish between illegal goods you intended to turn in and illegal goods you hoped to trade though. Perhaps when you pick them up, you have to alert the authorities and let them know you're going to turn it in, or at least declare them when you enter the policed system, otherwise you're considered a trafficker. Similarly you then have to then turn it in within a set time period or they'll assume you actually went off and sold them.

If you didn't let them know when you originally found them, and just rock up to a station carrying the contraband, or wait until they're about to scan you after a random spot-check before telling them, then your excuse of 'I was only bringing it back to hand it over' won't fly. The reason you didn't tell them was because you were hoping they wouldn't spot them.

Different authorities are different. Handing slaves over to the Imperials won't do much for your humanitarian reputation, you're effectively selling them. With any contraband, you can only declare it to one authority. If you choose the Feds, but need to fly through Imperial space to turn it over then it's still contraband as far as the Imperials are concerned. If you then decide to hand it over to the Imperials then the Feds will wonder where it went and suspect that you actually sold it. If you find slaves in Imperial space and want to do the good thing then you need to try and sneak out of Imperial space first.

Similarly if you think you can declare the contraband to one authority so that they don't arrest you when they scan you, then sneak off and sell it elsewhere you'll be wanted. You told them you had some contraband and then never turned it in... they'll know what happened.

slaves!

head over to eranin, azeban station and check out the two unidentified signals close by..

on more than two occasions this evening the smaller hauler appeared in the instance. after some serious damage to the hull it'll give up its precious cargo including slaves. sold for a hefty profit on the black market at freeport @4k+ per unit. nice little profit run, even after clearing bounty.

that is all

I also got a hold of 4 canisters with Slaves but I sold them on the Black Market at Chango Dock and guess what, there they're worth more than 9K per unit!

Today was a good day :D.
