SLF fighters need to deploy faster

I agree that some ships should be able to launch two at a time, but in that case, they will need a dramatic nerf in DPS. A single FLS is quite powerful, imagine doubling the mayhem.
 
+1 agree... faster deployment, faster transfer back to ship on destruction of fighter, more options like annoy, bait, hide ect... and definitely option to have at least 2 deployed!! love slf, they need to give this feature some real attention.
 
If they can't be made to deploy faster due to lag, then your mothership should have a period of invincibility until the SLF is fully launched. I can't stand having my mothership shot to crap whilst my CMDR scrapes the ice off the SLF's windows because he's too cheap to afford de-icer.

I would love dual launched fighters.
But for the moment, you could have two hot keys. Both are set to launch with active crew memeber, but one button launches fighter one, the other launches fighter two.
Im lucky so far that I have not had many lag issues with the SLFs.
 
Can you dock while you have a fighter deployed?

I don't think they give you landing permission.

- Launch fighter
- Switch fighter/mothership

And yeah would be awesome if the switch was instantaneous, I am not sure if this is feasible.

I don't care if the SLF takes a few seconds to leave/dock as long as it's *actual* deploy time. Like for your bay to physically open up etc, rather than screen goes black, wait....

Agreed. We need hotkey for npc or player launch. FD got part of it right with the recall SLF hotkey but more important is the launch key.

And make all SLFs bound to the status of the mother ship. This getting a wanted status for shooting a SLF before they fire is nonsense.
 
NPC pilot could manage some pips, maybe.

Perhaps this could be tied with stances. Agressive is more pips to weapons, defensive pips to shields.
A pester stance could be occasional shooting with pips to engines to never stay still, like a fly at a picnic.
 
I don't think we need new combat orders too badly, but I would like to see a way to set "default orders" that kick in right after launch. I'd also like for orders to be sticky when switching modes, so if I've got my ship on "Hold position" while I'm in the fighter, and then I switch back to the mothership briefly, I don't have to repeat the "hold position" order again.

Some non-combat orders would be fun too, like letting the crew mine or pick up materials while you play defense in the fighter.

Overall I really really hope the NPC crew aspects of the game get more love and development, so much good stuff that can be done!


Oh, and yes it would be nice to have the switch time be faster and more consistent. I usually deploy the fighter with crew and then switch after, it seems to result in less blind time overall.

Would love to get the deployment faster. But I am not sure if theres much that could be done there.

Also I would like to get my NPCs to target modules.
 
Bait and switch?

Shoot and hide?

SR then ambush and snipe power plant?

If you can't think of strategy past attack, defend, follow, hold position hold fire, and rtb, then you will never succeed as a military leader.

Bait and switch manuiver chain command:
Deploy Fighter.

That's it.

...what you want more?

Fine.

Defensive Posture,
Hold Fire,
Hold Position,

Then move away from the Fighter 7km so it can't be seen on the scope.

Wait.

Once attacked:
Aggressive Posture,
Focus Target.

Oh look I effectively with one chain of simple commands gave orders that do all three of your "Advanced Commands" barring module attacks. That would probably require an upgrade to focus target.

...something I feel needs to be looked into.

Hmmm... Tests...

In any case, try harder. That was too easy.

Knowing how to chain simple commands to get a computer to do your bidding is beginner stuff.
 
looking for assistance/suggestions.

I hired extra crew to fly one of the two fighters on board which worked fin right after the patch but now I cant get the crew member to do anything; he wont take the helm of the fighter or ship... kinds sits there like an underpaid employee ,... any suggestions on how to get this working?
