SLI is in... what about CrossfireX?

very good news, i can see the hardware forums being busy over the weekend with people debating the best card to add to their system :)

Here's a link to something I'd wanted to find out generally a while ago, it's a bit dated but it shows that pairing of Radeon cards of different recent 'classes' or series, even different brands, can be mixed.

If you've got a 7000 series Radeon card and were contemplating upgrading it to one of the newer R200 series, it might be worth trying both in crossfire, as an experiment. It 'might' mean you don't have to ditch the older card just yet!

Granted...a single 'good' card might be considered practically to be the best option, but if the game eventually supports crossfire and supports it well then *shrugs*...it could add a few fps's more....and you get to get a bit more use from the older card, rather than selling it off or ditching it. ;)

Jack :)

SLI, SLI, am I a happy bunny. I just ordered last Tuesday my new laptop, which has 2 x Nvidia GTX 860M. :D

Crossfire support went in a couple of days before SLI, as it happens. From what I heard, the work to make them behave was unsurprisingly similar.

Excellent news! A single R9 280X has no real trouble with settings on max (so far) - I'm looking forward to seeing how two of them perform!! :D

When SLI/Crossfire is working I am going to attempt a 2x 7950 and GTX 570 build, for sheets-n-giggles :D

Too bad I never got confirmation on whether or not PhysX gets used by the game engine.
