SLI is in... what about CrossfireX?

Running a watercooled i7 with dual GTX 680 which I'd guess comes close enough to a GTX 690.

Haven't tried 4k, but used to run ED at decent framerates on nvidia surround at 6040*1080. Granted, that is 1/3rd less pixels than 4k - but of course that's without SLI. Depending on what FD manage to squeeze out of SLI, I'd guess it should be barely playable with with a few framedrops here and there.

Interesting. I'll probably end up getting a 4k monitor when they come down in price a bit, then upgrading my GPU somewhere down the line. Thanks.

SLI Coming in Beta 2 but what about Crossfire?

Just wondering if crossfire support is planned or in the works for those who have ATI/AMD.

Thanks in advance.

It's still only 2 Gb of vram. The higher the resolution, the more vram is needed (well, sort of).

Good point - not sure if Vram becomes a hard limit before hitting 4k. At *6.5 mill pixels it's well playable, but of course performance could max out before hitting ~9.5 due to the Vram bottleneck.

Not planning to go 4k myself. Nothing on the GPU market really worth upgrading to - guess I'll let the GTX 980 pass and buy two of its successor.

High probability that it is. It's worth posting a request in AMD driver forums to push for support from AMD's end to help Frontier with the CrossFire optimisation. An SLI gamer requested Nvidia to begin optimising their drivers & create a profile for ED last month:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/477765/sli/official-nvidia-sli-profile-request-thread/38/

Whether these requests are listened to is anyone's guess!

Just wondering if Crossfire support is coming as well as Sli for those of us who have ati/amd.

Thanks in advance.

Did just that and I hope it's not going to be a repeat of Cycles for Blender.

Do you happen to be running 4K? I also am running a watercooled i7 and GTX 690 and wonder if I'll be able to get good framerates with max settings if I go 4k.

You may struggle a touch as a 690 benchmarks just above a titan in most scenarios, so while 4k IS a possibility, you may not be looking at the best fps.

Clarification about Crossfire would be good.

I have two R9 295's who would love to get acquainted with a 4K screen :)
Do you mind if I ask what kind of returns you get on the second card? (quadfire)
