Slightly annoyed with the new 1.3 system map

In the new system map they added a widget to target or set a course to the selected astral body.
I quite like the functionality, but the place where they put the information in many star-systems means that it is on top of other astral bodies.
This makes it very difficult to look at them or select them.

So please move the new widget up so it doesn't overlap with other astral bodies.

PS: With the many server problems I currently cannot play at all any more...

The galactic map is bothering me right now. All the additional information presented about the currently selected system is taking up too much room, and performance seems to be slower as a consequence. Can't this just go to the Info pane?

Selecting a planet in the system map losing the galactic route sucks too.

Actually, I think it is actually quite balanced. If you are just scanning systems randomly, then a big picture route isn't as imporant. But if you are going long distances quickly and want to keep your route, then you won't need the system map anyway. Or you can just use the nav panel as before. Otherwise, what is the point of the Nav Panel? I really like the Nav Panel, and would prefer it kept some kind of utility, you know... for navigation.

Also using this erases your route.

Yep. I'm sure they'll work on Flector's comment, where the system name/route covers up the planet. Not sure how fast they'll fix the "pick a planet/lose your star route".

The lag is there too. Almost every system needs a double honk to register.

And I get back to the station for the "exploration" CG, and I can't sell any cartography data, as it cannot "communicate with the cartography webserver".

I logged off and will give it a few hours to sort out.

I am having serious lag issues when trying to access any system map. It will just get frozen on the loading screen. I pretty much have to reload the game to get it "unstuck".

Yes, I have also experienced that. I guess the servers cannot handle the load currently. In fact I stopped playing for now and will try again tomorrow.
I really don't understand why they wanted to upgrade at this time instead of their 'normal' tuesday, but I guess that is a different topic.

Thanks for the confirmation, I thought I was going mad.

FD giveth and FD taketh away ;)

Seems a lot more stable today, it was very busy last night

I agree completely.

This is already annoying me. I either scan an entire system or not at all, so I'm only going to use the new functionality rarely, especially as it erases your route in the galaxy map.

It's a big usability downgrade for exploring as far as I'm concerned.

Plus when you select ship targets whilst a route is selected, although route is still in Galaxy map you can not always easily re-assign it. I find I have to again type in destination although the route is all marked!

I disagree.
For my part, I use the galaxy map for getting to black holes I see in the map (or B Systems). Therefore I would need to set a route with specific systems to come along. At systems that may contain metallic rings and other interresting stuff I want to get to planets that I specially pick out of the system map.
Doing so it erases my route on the g map.
Very annoying.

How about moving the cursor away from the main star so you can have an unobstructed view of those beautiful planetary bodies?

Would be nice if they shifted the tag up on the system view, and as someone else mentioned, the blue dot undernear stars is just annoying for me.

Seeing this as well. I've found if I hit escape to the game menu and then resume, I can regain control.

And then there's the whole issue of the info panel on the galaxy map that gets cut in half on a triple monitor setup. That's was only reported in pre-release.

The Galaxy map has always been a laggard, but if it's any consolation ... some of us remember when it took all day for it to plot a 90 LY route.

It has improved greatly since the early days, but it still has a loooooong way to go.

I've been asking for A->B->A route programming for trading since day one. How about manual waypoint route planning and "Saved routes" ?

Station to station plotting is a step forward, but still there have been many simple suggestions that continually get ignored so they can introduce new buggy stuff.

Like I've posted before, it's 3301 and our ships have computers powerd by 8088 PC processors running DOS 1.0. can't remember routes (oh - you mean like your Android or iPhone?), can't save any trade data even if it's only historical and not current, even though you stopped at a station and read all the commodities menus while you were there. FD's idea of a ship computer upgrade is still a pencil and a piece of paper...

So it goes.
