Slugsies ED Diary and Log app

Sorry about that, but I have no idea what the problem could be. I don't use Avast so I have no idea how to resolve this issue. The download .exe is created by WinRAR, so not exactly unusual. Did any of the previous versions give this problem?

I haven't done any work on the EDDL over Christmas/New Year, but I do have a couple of things in mind so expect some updates in the near future.

Was looking into this - sorry to say that not only avast's heuristic thinks the actual version is a trojan. 360 Internet security and bit defender warn about it too.

Well, I have no idea why. This is an app that is written in Visual Basic, the only extra beyond that is a DLL to access the Logitech LCD. It's packaged in a WinRAR self extractor.

*After a bit of investigation*

I have just run the WinRAR self extractor (of my current v0.7.4.0 dev version) through an online scanner, results here:
https://www.metascan-online.com/en/scanresult/file/cffb4f6078c4489e874b1c05845a78b5
One out of 43 scanners found something odd.

I then packaged the exact same files into a straight ZIP file, and ran that through the same scanner:
https://www.metascan-online.com/en/scanresult/file/07880a337edb462a9c9b1f1e720b1690#
Clean bill of health.

All I can surmise is that the virus scanner(s) aren't happy with the WinRAR self extractor for some reason. I'll update the first post with the current version that I'm using, both as a self extractor and a simple zip.

Are there plans to update this so it pulls location data from the Log files?

Maybe I'm missing something, but it already does pull the current location from the logs as long as verbose logging is set. If that isn't working for you then either you haven't set verbose logging, you haven't set the correct folder, or there is a bug.

Ah Ok. I have not installed it, but reading the info on the first part it states that it doesn't do that. I will install it and try it out later. Thanks.

Perhaps it would be an idea to amend the OP to exclude the bit commencing "*NOTE* As of Gamma 2.0...." as this is no longer true anyway.

Hi, have been using this for a while, very useful. However, currently when I run it I don't get a window appear. It is running, because it sets the "Current System" on my G510 keyboard, but won't open a window.

My guess is that you have somehow moved the window off-screen. The app remembers its last position and will always reopen at the same place. Do you see the EDDL icon on the taskbar? If so click on it to bring the app to the foreground, then hit Alt-Space, and you should see a menu appear somewhere with options to Restore, Move, Resize etc. Click on Move then press one of the arrow keys on the keyboard, the app should then snap to the mouse cursor, and you can move it around with the mouse.

Sorry to be a pain - I now have different problem. The window comes up, the G510 notes the last recorded position, then I start the game, and when I finish, the Diary has not recorded a thing. SHould I start the diary AFTER the game has started? I've looked for instructions to that effect but didn't see anything...

No problem. Almost certainly logging has been disabled in ED, you need to re-enable it after every update as the update process disables it. It doesn't matter if you start ED or EDDL first, it should still work just the same. I've just uploaded v0.7.5.0 which includes a change that shows if logging is currently enabled when you're on the settings screen.

I think for the next update (whenever that is) I'll give a prompt when you start the EDDL if logging is disabled.

I just loaded your app and all seemed to go well. it runs and I see the diary etc. however, after jumping 5 or 6 times ant then looking at the diary, actually all t he tabs, I see nothing. no systems no nothing. I am almost sure it is something I am not doing but I have no idea what. I have the verbose set to 1 in AppConfig> file. help if you have time and are so inclined.

Most likely problem is that either the app can't find the config file, or verbose logging isn't enabled correctly. Check that you have the correct location set, and that the EDDL reports that verbose logging is set:

I've just uploaded a minor update that includes a check on startup of the EDDL to see if verbose logging is enabled. See OP for download.
