Smaller treasures of Planet Coaster

When the game was released i immediatly started to place my buildings and build my park. Hardly ever took the time to watch some of the smaller details of the game.
Last few weeks i had some heavy construction works going on at my house and i didn't really have time to play. (I don't even start the game when i know i have less then an hour of playtime)

Few days ago i felt like i was really in need of a dose of Planet Coaster and decided to start up the game again. Not to really play it (because there is still a lot of work to be done in my house) but just to build small stuff and look at details. I found some little nice things that really reminded me of why i had been so exited about this game, and still am.

Details
I build a bunch of flatrides and just took my time to zoom in and look at all the small details. Ofcourse i already knew it was beautifull because Frontier pointed this out multiple times [wink]
Still it amazed me at how many small details are placed on every ride, train or track. I have played the game for over 140 hours and still find new small detials on certain rides.

Music I
Planet Coaster was already known to have a great soundtrack but a few days ago i really took time to listen to a few of the in-game tunes. Some of them are really really nice and stick in your head for hours (if not days) to come. For example just listen to "Full English Breakfast" or "The Ballad of Tentifu".

Music II
This was probably added on the winter update but im not sure. When you place speakers and place a wall or object between yourself and the speaker the sound really sounds different. It really sounds like the music plays from another room. Wonderfull small detail that you might never really notice because it's so "natural".

Music III
Custom music ;)

Winter Scenery
When thinking about buildings the first thing that comes to mind for most people are the walls, the roofs, etc. But what really finishes a nice structure is the decoration. Upon a closer look at the shapes and lights we got in the winter update i can't help but come to the realisation that the small pieces might be my favorite scenery additions from the winter update. The things you can do with all those small pieces and the lights are just amazing.

Ride Sequence
This was heavily requested, yet once we had it i never really used it untill now. Recently I took my time to figure out what all different sequences exactly do and how i can mix them in a way that suits my liking. I never knew that different ride sequences will result in different ride stats. Using wilder sequences will result in slightly more fearull and more exiting rides. Very fun to play around with.

Scenery Rating / Crowds
This something i figured out some time ago so it doesn't really fit the list but i still want to share it once more because i think it's a very underestimated feature.
Just try to place 5 flatrides in your empty park and keep an eye on the park ratings. Now add lots of scenery to it, add a mainstreet, buildings, theming etc. Your scenery rating will go up and so will the crowds in your park.
In a park with just 5 flatrides for example the scenery can make the difference between a nice and quit park and a very heavily crowded park.

Maybe i will add some more when i think of some more, but im more curious to what you people think is worth to spend some time on? What are the smaller things in this game you think are worth spending some time on?

I get lost sometimes when playing cause I notice how a particular thing works or looks and watch it in action over and over. It's amazing how much detail there is on every part of a coaster car and track. It's beautiful.

I've stopped playing in the last few weeks, not because I don't like the game, just because I wanted to focus on something else.
Reading this makes me want to play it again and just enjoy my parks.
I get too caught up in building everything though

When I am doing a bunch of CAD work, I'll take breaks from it and load up a park and ride all the coasters.
It makes me happy.

I really enjoy riding the Venetian Carousel, simply because it rotates in a circle so I get to have a look at all of the scenery surrounding it. It's really enjoyable

So many things that I feel a lot of people miss out on.

I agree... I go back again and again just to ride my coasters because they're designs that have been in my mind for years and now it feels like they've come to fruition... they feel so real and so right.

Also the triggered events just add so much life to a log flume or dark ride... I just made a sci-fi dark ride and there is so much depth you can create; it ends with a fast paced finale that has giant cannons firing a fireball in guest's direction... so cool!

But I think I smiled with surprised delight the most when I simply rode the Overpower flat ride with a full load of guests and they totally reacted to the ride sequences. When the ride did a slow full loop without flipping the guests would give a gradual and sustained "Wooooooooaaaaaaaaaahhh" and then when the gondola flipped over they would scream "WOAH! hahahahaha"... it just made me laugh so much! I had played hours before trying out a flat ride so it was fun to discover.

I just spotted something tonight I hadn't seen before. When you hire a new janitor or move an old one, there's a whirlwind of trash swirling on the ground right under him while you've still got him hovering the in air. I'd never noticed this before because I generally place them from god's eye view high above the park. But tonight I put one in an underground area full of shops, so had to be in the tunnel with him.

Now I'll have to see if the other staff have similar effects.

Great list Vampiro! There are so many things I love to do in this game. Just listening to the soundtrack while building is very therapeutic for me. I love also to watch the sun rise and set and observe the coasters from a distance in a different part of the park, as if I was a guest.

The thread's title also reminded me of a fun little detail:
The in-game description of the Pirate Cove actually gives you a hint on how to overcome financial instabilities in this scenario ... once [big grin]
I really really loved that!

Also, everything Vampiro mentioned [up]

My biggest draw for the game is getting lost in the Minot details. I can spend an hour or 9 on an entrance. I can try to theme a coaster or dark ride just right.

Part of that I think is due to the atmosphere the game creates. The game feels like a living breathing world. Part of that is entail to the branding in the game, the use of a fictional language. The expressions on the faces of the guests. And the music, oh the music, that wonderful glorious music. It sucks you in.

So much credit to frontieer and what they achieved. The game doesnt meet everyones vision, or expectation of what they want in a Theme Park Sim game. But it does so for me. Just keep on pooring in rides, and ill be content.

But hey if they wanted to add some deeper manangement I wouldnt mind :p

Pretty much says it all. [up]

For me Planet Coaster is a masterpiece of Art! The details, the love in every single building piece, textures, the screws, bolts, gears, movement, mechanics for each ride, the music, the atmosphere, absolutely everything is so awesome. the effort of the developers, creators and who else is involved in this game is amazing.

I must say that I don´t know hardly any Game developers today who care so much for their own product. You can see that most of them really are so deep in this with their heart and soul and they want to make this game. They have fun in what they do. It is not a bunch of coders who get payed and dont care what they create. Compared to other studios they really deserve a price for devotion and creativity. This is so great.

I love it! Nothing more to say. [heart][heart][heart]

I was working on my park just yesterday, and the sunset happened to catch my eye. I literally sat for several minutes watching the sun go down on my little creation.

Just beautiful!

It doesn't always happen, but on more than one occasion, I have seen a peep step out of the way of another coming the other way. Very cute.

Yeah, I'm continually stumbling on tiny details of things and keep thinking, "nobody will ever see this, but it's cool that it's there".

I always wanted a model train set with all the bells and whistles, but was never willing to cede 1 or more rooms of my house to that. PC let's me have as many model train sets as I want, and they all fit in the space occupied by my flat screen monitor, and if I don't like them, I can scrap them and start over.

But there's also the puzzle of it all. What makes the peeps rain their cash on me? How can I tempt them to do that more often? How can I be all things to all peeps and still make an obscene profit? It might be easy to spam certain flat rides and ride them to the end, but the trick is figuring out how to have variety appealing to a broad cross-section.

I know that feeling. I've put thousands of hours into Kerbal Space Program, and watching the sun (or some other heavenly body) rise or set on an alien world, and that view only happening because of all the work I put into making it possible. I get the same thing i n PC watching the light play over a mini-world I built with my own hands.

The guest animations are what really make the game for me. I'm really hoping they continue to add more guest behaviors and animations to the game.

Everything is just so lovely in the game that I'd occasionally forget I'm building something and I'd sink hours watching guests go around the park and join their fun activities - I'd go on the rides with them too!

Thats very true indeed!!

It's something where i can't really put my finger on. It's not just the music, not just the graphics, not just the guest designs but a fine mix of everything together that make the game feel so "alive". Maybe thats what i appreciate most in the game because it's something you can't really design... Some game's have "it" and there is no real telling on how to create it. I've seen other beautifull games that were well designed but still it doesn't give you that feeling. Its almost like charisma... you can't teach it, can't design it, it's just there or it isn't.

Planet Coaster definatly has it.

I couldn't agree more with this thread! The detail amazes me at every turn!

And I agree with most you when saying its my go to game to relax.... I often spend hours after work just add detail and working on small areas, I find it very good at helping me relax and de-stress after long days at my research. :)
