Smeaton Orbital run is dead, now what?

You know for FD to get to know any 'credit fun' is to run few queries about player financial stats on their database and then follow trail of missions and credits, right?

That will go in some very interesting spirals... and lead to some head-scratching and a lot of "what the hades is this fellow doing? Looks like he's following a drunken duck around. But somehow he's making credits doing it."

he trolling forum because he became billionaire fast. Exploits kill the game.
Burn the sinner like they do in the enlightened 34th century!

Curious why the image URL says Lego-Robot-Plays-Tetris.jpg or why it's in the April, 2010 upload directory.
I thought you should be delighted to see the first historical prototype of it instead of showing a sinful curiosity.

Anyway a human robot is far better than this.

He easily sits through money-, engineer-, whatnot- grind and writes on the forums how a human expecting something else is a sinner.

Betas typically have odd issues that make no apparent sense. They get fixed.

Well this one hasn't been fixed yet and some have gotten responses from support that there's nothing wrong.

Not exactly confidence inspiring.

With FD I have learned not to take anything as a given. I'm just hoping at this point that it gets fixed before release.

It was in jest; a tongue in cheek dig at how repetitive & easily automatable exploration would be.
Though now you mention it, programming such a bot to play ED would likely be a more rewarding experience. :x

My life's story in ED:

I bought the game.
I did worthless stuff; earnt peanuts, bored silly.
I ran Smeaton; earnt billions, bored silly.
I ranked up Empire, earnt peanuts, bored silly.
I went exploring, earnt peanuts, bored silly.

Arguable the most rewarding time I've had in ED was running Smeaton!
Sure it was mind numbingly boring, but at least it progressed something with mechanical worth that expanded the gameplay experience a little. (bank balance->buy & fly new ships)

Obviously this is somewhat of a simplification; while doing the 'worthless stuff' I was learning the game, so in the beginning it wasn't entirely boring.
Likewise exploration was initially interesting until I found my 1st undiscovered Neutron Star / Water world / Ammonia World / Earth-like, but now it's just rinse and repeat.

So unless you're interested in faction influence (which by many accounts is incredibly tedious), or combat, then my answer to the OP is a big fat:

Nothing.

One of the most honest posts I've seen. I liked the Smeaton run b/c it gave me 30mins of downtime where i could do actual productive work. Nothing like mixing work and play. I just don't have the time, most days, to dedicate to these more complicated schemes. I'm with you, I enjoyed it (only amassed about 2B); prior to Smeaton...i mostly did the Community Goal missions (which were also boring, yet somehow fun). I really want to get into mining, but it seem so difficult for little payout.

Of course they don't do that, they most likely do trend analysis and see what players up to and what they like.

Thinking that dev don't know all get major rich quick schemes is funny ;)

They will nerf something if they feel they need to do that. Considering how many opportunities there have been and how rarely they weight in, most likely they are ok with 'credits fun', no?
That’s a bit like the old “the government knows everything and is watching us” argument. In both cases, there are demonstrated levels of both inability and apathy that prevent those claims from becoming reality.
