Smoooooooooooooooth- stutter is gone!

What the hell has happened? Just played on the 1.3.7 update, and everything is slicker than smooth jazz being played by oil barons in a lube convention.

Whatever knobs have been tweaked, well done devs! I experienced my first entire session running amazingly well. Full fat hyperspace is really nice.

I really hope this is the case, won't be able to test it for a few since I am 2.5klyr away from the inhabited bubble. Will just have to rely on everyone's impressions so far until I get back.

Fixed for some, not for others.

The stuttering is a multi-faceted problem that effects different builds for different reasons.

Happy you got yours sorted. In my case, a couple cases were resolved. Stuttering in asteroid rings is gone, for me. However, I still see some micro stutters as I approach a station in SC.

Always happy to hear that some instances of stuttering got plugged (as I have always found it very annoying when it happens, especially at high fps). Fingers crossed they have success with other cases.

And most likely it was some shader issues and optimizations.

Sounds like a possible reverski 1.2 vs 1.3 those affected vs those not affected now flipped?

Was in Wolf 906 HRES now (btw, sidewinders and eagles only) - very laggy, never seen it like that.

So - can't comment.

IDK, I've always had it

At first on an old pre-built dell with modest specs, the stutters were darn near game breaking...causing every approach to over shoot...That got better with 1.2

Then, before 1.3, I built a new PC with a GTX 970 and 8GB of memory. Stutters were reduced further, almost not noticeable. Still had some asteroid rings that would give me some hangs but they were far in between.

(Stutters are pretty much nonexistant on the old machine now, though I don't play on it much)

Since 1.3.07 the asteroid stutters are gone completely...just get those little SC stutters and I'm good.

Yep, same for me!
Actually, everything became incredibly smooth (inside stations, in supercruise, open and solo) at 1.3 launch, then slowed down / stuttered after the first minor update.
Now everything is smooth again after 1.3.7 update!

Now, if they could also get rid of all the graphical downgrades (rings/RESs lighting/fog for instance...) which have been implented recently...but there is already a separate thread about that.

I played a game once, ran like a bag of tied up cats....then.... DEVS : "We are releasing a patch to optimise and improve fps, netcode etc" ME: "WHOA!!! this is awesome, silky smooth and.....wait a minute....where did all the trees go???" :/

To those saying stutter is gone:
- did you have it only since 1.3.00 (e.g. was ok in 1.2)?
- do you have AMD cards?
If yes to both of these, this suggests the removal of the shader caching has helped in your case.

If anything, the stutters in supercruise seem worse than before.

Strange thing is that when I try to record a video about it with FRAPS, the stutter disappears. And starts again once I stop recording.

Prior to the latest patch I never suffered any stuttering.

Unfortunately for me, since the latest patch, supercruise stuttering has started and it seems to get worse the closer I get to the destination.

On one occasion the stuttering got so bad that it froze the game completely and I was prompted to send in a report, which I did.

Very strange!

Played for 20 minutes or so, definitely seems like less stutter in the Rift for me. Maybe not a long enough play to be sure.
