Smuggling missions now pointless.

I can understand that, nothing wrong with wanting something different, but I don't think the investors would. They're trying to be both which is the problem.

I don't know. Investors keep investing, so something's done right and proper in their eyes.

But to try do both (be unique and to cater to masses), it's... not going to work.

Because the payouts and frequency of these missions were a load of crap.

If the missions still occur, but less frequent, I wouldn't say it's ruined. It's just more balanced.

Boring minority pigeon detected. What makes you think that "balanced = better"? Why can't certain places be booming and standing out from others for 'reasons'?

How do you keep getting all these missions cropping up? I've been in and out of Sothis all morning and not a jot - saying that a 100k Ceos smuggling one is in. I've logged out/in to reinstance myself and nothing - no smuggling/trading missions at all.
Guess you're one of the lucky ones :)

Back to shipping the Sothis Gold for me

you have to be very lucky to get them to even more lucky to get high payed.
These guys that get them don't see that they're just uber-lucky

PERHAPS (but I don't think so, but to be a bit crying ;-) ELITES get more out of the BB...

I guess they either had to fix the exploit or nerf the actual missions themselves. Perhaps the latter was the more simple solution to the problem. The thing is, it was an exploit that would have ruined the balance of the game. You can't jump from the ability to make (an average of) 5 million per hour (trading/merits/bounty hunting) to making 30 million an our without a profoundly negative effect on the economy of the game. Crying? Perhaps, but at the end of the day it was nerfed because it was exploitable and 'not intended'.

Useless comment detected? Either that, or I just don't understand it.

Believe me, I enjoyed the short burst of credits as well. But this was just crazy. If you have a valid reason on why the payouts and spawn frequency of these missions should go back to the way it was 2 days ago, please let me know.

because for non-elites the payout WAS in range (okay, a bit over it but everything but exploiting!!! - see my example some posts above)

I'm about to make you look very stupid... Stand by while I upload something..

Edit - Please check the ingame date and time of the screenshot.. spawns have been reduced, but you can still get good money payouts if you wait

I am seeing 1 or 2 big payouts every 10 minutes, the rest are lower ranks up to 1.8 million, plenty to pick from if you have a big enough hold... It's balanced much better now.

OH you found one and you are an elite trader makes sense..

Thx for ruining that single part in this game i actually totally loved. Why is Frontier listening to this vocal minority so much? They don't represent the majority. Who says that everything must be optimal balanced like everything else that is the same in this galaxy? It makes sense that some places are way more booming than others. Boring people only want boring things.

Can you please provide a link/evidence that Frontier listened to anybody concerning this and did not just fix it themselves because they realised they had overdone it? - No?, didn't think so. You were playing Elite pre Sothis, you had a gold rush, now it's done, guess what, play Elite again.

Up to a certain point I agree. But I went in as a broker and sometimes got more than two 8+ mil missions offered at the same time.

The contingency governing the reward was very generous.

Of course, smuggling has drawn in many folks who have fixated on the reward in terms of credits. Personally I'd prefer the contingency to demand more dynamic play by upping the challenge, then have the reward scale accordingly.

As it stands, smuggling should be fun. Exciting. Dangerous. Scary. The play experience Frontier could provide, within the context of the game world, could be really engaging. As it stands, it is not.

Have craAAaaaaazy big credit rewards -- at the cost of craaaazy levels of complexity, challenge and consequence.

Not high-paying milkruns with the occasional speedbump.

In essence, a fun, engaging mechanic should be the appeal of any action within a game - criteria empowerment, for example and with regards to Elite, credits, have their place, but as icing on a deliciously sweet cake of experience.

someone even made a BUG out of this and Frontier answered they will investigate...

Sorry man. I just heavily disagree with you. I voted for the other guy. I'm not looking for a galaxy where everything is perfectly balanced so it doesn't matter if you're 1 light year from Sol or 5000. Successful factions that do something that is out of the box deserve to be standing out. Even communism failed by human greed. Places need to be different big time. The reason that this is not the case is the same reason i haven't per-ordered Horizons or will ever get it. What's the point in having planets that are all the same all over the galaxy in which it doesn't matter where you are in relation to profit? When is Elite Dangerous finally becoming really Elite Dangerous? Right now 'Elite' is meaningless. It only shows that you had enough spare time to grind your walnuts off. I'm done with the puppy-mode ignorance.

Still proves nothing, it was the usual canned response from Frontier support, take a step back, you know these missions were over the top, have some objectivity please, you were playing with Kinder eggs, Frontier let you play with the Faberge eggs for a while now its back to Kinder, enjoy!

It is getting funnier and funnier when fanboys come (zerg) to protect their precious ED. Someone told that he did "only" point "the making so much credits in a small time problem" (he does say overpowered not to write "credits" though, thank god). The problem is not pointing an obvious turth or not. The problem is you point a problem. A problem about earning "credits" in a small time. Then call people to quit this game if they care about "credits".

Mate; you care about credits, so you better uninstall and quit playing your precious ED. You are killing your precious game by caring about "credits" that much. The problem is for me not the so called OP smuggling runs. I've never been at Sothis or have not done any smuggling missions when those OP smuggling missions were on. So i really don't care about that so called "nerf". What i care is people who are rich, play the game from the begining and fanboys (people who think ED is always right, not matter what happens) were whining so hard because the people, they were ganking newbies who fly eagles, sidewinders etc.. with their 1 bil ships, are afraid those newbies can fly Vultures etc. so they cant pawn them anymore.

If anyone would really think "this game is fun, don't care about credits" won't ever see any problem in this because they really don't care about credits, like me. I don't care about smuggling "nerfed" or not. But you fanboys really cry and whine so hard even call people they cry and whine while whining, you make me laugh so hard.

Thank you ED, making smuggling "OP" and then "nerfing" it made my day. (lol, i am going to turn in to fanboy at this rate :D )

Weddings

Weddings, what is all these messages about “three cheers for the happy couple”. We are in the year 3300 approx. So No loving anymore everyone will come out of a test tube.

SEX, that will be with a ROBOT, as there will be no need for male or females.

In the hope of stirring things up, Lankspeed.

You want to stir things up? Just put the word "smuggling" in your thread title ;)
