Smuggling missions now pointless.

What happened to all the smuggling missions? Three days ago I was doing a lot for 200k -500k credits, with the occasional 800k-900k credits. I have only had one 1 million credit mission so far, but seen quite a few requiring being ELITE in trading (I am at Tycoon for trading). For the last two days, I can hardly find a smuggling mission, let alone anything for more than 150k credits.

This was the 1 million credit mission I did a few days ago:

This was a list of AVAILABLE BUT UNOBTAINABLE MISSIONS showing two 1+ million credit missions that required being ELITE for trading:

All this was in v1.4. Did I miss a recent change in the game? :(

NOte. I was getting these missions all over the place, and was doing quite a lot in the area around Eravate. They have all dried up now. :(

Apparently, we were earning too much money whilst having too much fun and not feeling the grind. So we were hit with a nerf nuke.

"Game over man, Game over."

Yes there have been to many complaints about profits been to high. One of the points to play this game is to get credits so as to improve ones LOT. The problem with the DEVS is they have an OVERKILL attitude to complaints.

Regards Lankspeed.

Thx for a nerf of smuggling missions, you make a game again empty, boring and one sided, all of you who ask for nerf you are selfish manipulators...

Oooooh, another one, good, good, so, Frontier have apparently started not only listening to but acting on a few complaints, the result being, missions were 'nerfed', well, as I've posted in another thread, you shouldn't have anything to worry about then, because if Frontier are listening to those who bleat and moan the scale since the nerf has been at least ten times greater than those asking for those ridiculously OP missions to be toned down.

And I still haven't seen any evidence that Frontier acted on behalf of those who questioned the missions.

did one run to sothis and back last night in my annie just to see what is currently happening.. got 260t of crystalline gold, picked up a couple of biowaste missions worth 1.3m and 1.5m and a timed mission worth 500k. aa straight off the board. so let me see, thats 5.8m +1.3m +1.5m +500k = 9m for just over an hours work. no interdictions, just that silly chap trying to find me and get me to follow... dont see thats too shabby and not really sure what folks are grumbling about... and pretty much as it was 'before'

FD listen to Media control agents and paid trolls, now days....

I been trying to keep out of the shoutiest of these threads but I really see a huge over-reaction on these forums. They introduced a somewhat over payed/exploitable smuggling missions and now they are adjusting it. As with all adjustments it takes a bit of fine tuning, there's a patch today that mentions missions. I cannot truly believe that any-one supports a game mechanic that allows you to make a billion in a few days, so calm down and see what FD come up with.

I thought crystalline gold was a rare commodity with a cap? if it's not (or the cap is high enough to fill a python) then I might go back to Sothis tomorrow.

Again another person not reading the original post, it was never about Sothis it was about all smuggling missions (for some people at least) have gone, puff nada nothing, Some people have said if you are Elite trading rank a couple of 9 mill missions are there but again that was never the point of the post it because all the small end missions have disappeared as well.

I suspect there was a lot of exaggeration and/or basement dweller levels of grinding going on for people who claimed to be able to make a billion from Sothis. A billion is a thousand million, and the Sothis exploit was there for maybe two weeks. You'd have to make 67M per day for fifteen days solid to make a billion. I'm sure it can be done, but it wasn't exactly everyone doing it.

The point was it could be done and I suspect easier than you say, I had a quick go and made over 30m a hr on two runs, do that for a few hrs over 4days or so and you got the money.

Yes, but how long do you think could you keep it up before you start contemplating joining an Amish commune? :)

As always though the wrong problem was fixed ..... what was wrong with changing the mission system so that the BB had maybe 3 or 4 'high end' missions but the ones paying 6-10m required carrying 100-150T cargo more like 200Ly ... meaning you didn't have to mode-swap to fill yer boots.... it scales with reward ... can fill the ship with maybe 2 -3 missions but have to travel slower + heavier to do it

Still makes for a valid game-style but doesn't incentivies the kind of play we saw in sothis
Just killing the missions eliminates the game-type for the wrong reason

Oh for crying out loud, get over yourself! Do you realize that some of us have full time jobs and other things that mean sometimes we can't play at all for a week or two, and most of the time we can only squeeze in an hour or so here and there? I have played this game since Beta, restarted with a new commander in May, and from May-October I made 16 million in profit. That means that earning enough to buy an Anaconda would take me 60 months, or 5 years. Finding a thing like the Sothis missions is the only way I'm going to be able to experience more than 5% of the game. I'd like to see you fly in a Hauler for six months straight, trying to earn enough for an Asp so you can do some exploring, while being interdicted by Pythons and Federal Dropships, ships that could only dream of being able to afford.

Not everyone is single and unemployed and can grind credits for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Star Citizen will be out in 3 years!!

;)

As always though the wrong problem was fixed .....

And the fix broke more than was broken.

For a Company that that makes a lot of noise about 'Stella Forges' the 'One to One Scale of our Galaxy' their 'Ability to make suitably potatoey moons and planets'...change LRMs is not as simple as it looks?

Seems to me that, in an emergency, you a) remove LRMs and go back to Smuggling as per 1.3 or b) cut the LRMs' credits by 20/30/40/50%; LRMs I did as an Entrepreneur for 1.6m? I'd still do them at 700k.

What I find ironic is that, aside from the Audio Team*, that the things that made LRMS fun (no, not the credits) were imo:

a) the slightly borked Interdiction mechanic;
b) 'Psycho Cop' (my new Hero tbh);
c) the various little bugs in the A.I., ignoring SR, able to hit you with fixed from 3k away etc;

all of these things were not an issue (for me) when Smuggling because they kind of fitted the activity and made for great game play. The irony is all of these are unintended consequences. As soon as the Devs act with purpose, they make a mess of the whole thing.

I think the Game-Play Dept. needs to sit down with Audio and ask for some advice.

*These guys know their stuff; awesome Team.
