So, about 2.4...

They use the calendar year. January to December.

FD's Fiscal year ends 31 May.

Just to throw another spanner in there. Can't have too many, can we? ;)

As I originally stated. Most people do not use those date for the seasons in the UK. Those are astronomical dates which 99% of the UK population do not use.

But we're space men in SPAAAAAACE. Wouldn't we use astronomical terms?

I don't think financial years have much to do with seasons. I know what you mean, but going from FDevs previous releases they use the standard season model. But they are still only 4 months late and not the year some people are saying.

They did say autumn originally, but changed it.
Also, I suspect they'd think that UK Autumn = US Fall (it would never have occured to me that the dates might differ). So I'm sticking with "6-8 months late" :)

And they'd have been even later, if The Commanders Multi-Crew had had most of the features originally planned (rather than IMHO cutting them to get it out the door).

For what it's worth (doesn't prove anything either way) :
* They had originally planned 2.2 (The Guardians) for "Summer 2016", which is June to August for the UK, but 20th June to September for the US. Yet it was released on 25th October 2016.
* They had originally planned 2.1 (The Engineers) for "Spring 2016", which is March to May for the UK, but 20th March to June for the US. Yet it was released on 26th May 2016.

Come one, we need more sostantial info, when there is no CG active the game is almost dead, you cant relay on CG to have content....
You guys always do live stream with Q&A but all the answer are like Sry we cant talk about that, sry I can answer this... This is a secret... This is so pathetic from a prospective of a backer player.
Is not very professional IMHO.

What ?

I was just down in Cubeo and there is plenty of action there.

Any of the Powerplay headquarters systems have PvP on a daily basis.

Accuse Frontier of lacking professionalism yet you cant even string a paragraph together without glaring typos and poor grammar.

Yeah. and I'd rather have a quality bug free experience that's 4 months late than a rushed buggy one on time.

Wait... ;)

So when does fall end for you?

It's either end of November or the 21st December. That means at worst 4 months and 11 days late. This is simple maths.

Stick with whatever you want. Doesn't make you correct. Also I know a lot of Americans who think fall is September to end of November. It basicay means the same thing as Autumn. But as people have differnt times for their seasons around the world they are now using quarters which makes more sense.

So The Commanders has already been released? I thought we were supposed to get multi crew with that...

People who don't write software:
It's late and it's buggy and it doesn't do everything I expected it to do! Waaah!

People who write software:
Well duh.

;)

You obviously don't write software.

I'm a programmer. I sometimes need to squash bugs on released software. But if I published a program that re-introduced old bugs or had major issues, I wouldn't be making the unreasonably high salary that my company pays me.

Who are you? My friendlist when there are no CG is always empty, no SDC, No AA, 13th, 12.5th , Nomads, GCI etc.
If you dont do PvP, or if you do pre organized pvp just dont reply or ignore my message.
Also not everyone is English mother tongue so before to open the mouth think, genius.
Thx

Oh I write software for sure.
Reintroducing old bugs is the most embarrassing of all the mistakes we make - and the FDA will shout at me if I do it.
Much better to introduce brand new bugs ;)

The point I was making, which I'm sure you'll still agree with, is that no software is ever bug free and that the chances of any release doing everything that EVERY customer wants it to do are minuscule.

FDev still need to work on their QA though - release quality has been poor recently.

Good point. I just thought that the "waaah" comment was a bit condescending.

When I get a complaint or suggestion, I take it seriously, even if it seems trivial. I regard my customers as the top of the food chain. I might have to bite my tongue and push that pesky pride down sometimes, but if I step back from myself, I can see how important the minor issues can be to them.

In return, I get a lot of free food and cigar breaks.

Fair point about the 'Waaah' - I nearly didn't include it ;)

The problem with customers is that they often want different things, frequently contradictory ones, which means that sometimes they're going to be disappointed - and sometimes minor issues are the hardest ones to fix.
So generally, I cut other developers some slack for the occasional screw up - but FDev really need 2.4 to be on point or even I'll struggle to maintain my goodwill :)

Uggg... Sometimes I think FD should start another kickstarter and write the game again from scratch will all that we know, and reuse the code where we can.

I doubt it would turn out any different. Frontier are making the game Frontier want to play, and we're all just along for the ride. Still, in another decade or so, you might be able to play Star Citizen instead... maybe.

I think my biggest concern with 2.4 and the content not going through beta...I'll point to the Ram Tah mission..
And how it was borked from the beginning, and took weekss for Frontier to even acknowledge a problem, let alone fix it. They have a hard enough time fixing big known bugs before release, let alone an untested headline feature...

I expect everyone at FD to go on vacation for 2 weeks after patch day. Game breaking bugs that were reported and ignored in beta will be reported en masse on day 1 of patch day. Support will give the usual we're looking into it response for every bug report. Should any CMDR dare complain to general forums about this, the "Elite" forum rep cheerleaders will of course show up and say this is normal in game development and it's impossible to release a product without bugs.

The forums will be filled with "I'm disappointed" posts and 1000+ word essays on why it sucks or wasn't what they expected/wanted and how FD could have prevented this travesty if they only added this short list of 100 features. Mods will obviously be locking and merging threads on overdrive that week. A couple major player groups (probably a PVP group) will make long posts about how this is the death of the game and that if FD doesn't do what they say they'll leave and then leave anyways.

Somewhere in the middle of all this, many CMDRs will try to play the game and have fun. Bugs willing, hope that is me too. My expectations are below sea level. Fly safe CMDRs
