So, about 2.4...

Fair enough, but searching for anything from FD saying that turns up nothing so far. Only assumptions from players and 3rd parties.

It's kind of like that 10 year plan thing. DB said that he'd like to see the game go for 10 years, but there's nothing from FD on a 10 year plan. In fact, the only plan I could find was the 8 year life span from their public official documents. That 8 year life span is still in the current public information.

We tend to take things that are said over and over and consider them to be fact as long as nobody disputes it. Something from FD themselves would be nice, but anything else is just assumption.

Here is a link to the original roadmap copied by someone else. It is behind schedule buy around 3-4 months, but they never mentioned when 2.4 would be released:

Thanks for the link.

But I disagree about being only "3-4 months" behind. They said:

(i.e. sometime between September & November 2016.)

Okay, as they generally release right at the end of the estimate, we can say it is 4 months and 11 days late (was released 11th April. End of November to end of march is 4 months last time I looked). Not the year people keep talking about though.

But it was actually released 11th April 2017 (also). That makes it 6 to 8 months late!

I think your maths is a bit out.

My only worry about it taking nearly twice as long as they (probably) expected is that (1) they might run out of money (but the Xbox & PS4 ports seemed to have saved them), and (2) Star Citizen might eventually overtake them (now looking more likely, assuming 3.0 isn't a complete mess).

Personally I think it is exceptionally unlikely that FD are going to run out of money. They are not a new outfit, they've been at this a long time. Your second point really made me laugh, though. :)

As well as the fact it is just over 4 months late not a year. Plus FDev have large cash reserves at the moment. Why people write such rubbish is beyond me. As for SC, I can't see that releasing for another 3 or 4 years if it ever releases at all.

Most people see autumn being September, October and November in the UK as it says in the Oxford Dictionary. Most people see December, January and February as winter. March, April and May as spring and June, July and August as the summer.

https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/autumn

"In North America, autumn is usually considered to start with the September equinox (21 to 24 September)[5] and end with the winter solstice (21 or 22 December)."

Since fall is the AE term it's not unreasonable to assume they use the North American definition. It also happens to be the astronomic season, which makes sense in a game about space.

As FDev are a UK based company I very much doubt they will use that system. They will use the most common version around which is what I wrote above.

Now they are using 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter so nobody gets confused anymore.

It's entirely unreasonable to assume that a UK company would default to using American definitions. :) We simply wouldn't.

We talked about what's coming to 2.4 with Lavecon communications and the newsletters that followed after this, and in Zac’s post here.

The difference with 2.4 is that we're heavily focusing on the continuation of the narrative of the Thargoids and the emerging stories surrounding them. We've started to see the threads being discovered by the community in the past couple of months and 2.4 will be largely about pulling on those threads and unravelling more of the story behind them. The way that the update will be delivered won't be like any other we've done and will focus on narrative – a narrative that we certainly don’t want to spoil. For that reason, it may appear as if there’s a lack of new information about 2.4… we’ll keep things going with sneak peeks here and there, but we really want you to discover 2.4’s big secrets for yourselves.

Aside from the major update and the focus on narrative, there will obviously be improvements, bug fixes, and balancing changes to various aspects also. These will be included as part of the patch notes as usual.

Come on, we need more sostantial info, when there is no CG active the game is almost dead, you cant relay on CG to have content....
You guys always do live stream with Q&A but all the answer are like Sorry we cant talk about that, sorry I can answer this... This is a secret... This is so pathetic from a prospective of a backer player.
Is not very professional IMHO.

Again, you wouldn't use Fall instead of Autumn either. Just like you wouldn't say color. And yet they did, which means this argument is invalid. :)

PS
And it's not just the American definition but also the astronomical definition.

I suppose they can tell us some of the non-secret bits of their plans, but as that's likely to be things like "we've improved the UV mapping on The Vulture" they probably don't see that it's worth it.
