So everyone jumping ship to Star Citizen?

Star Citizen being in development since 2012 and it still doesn't have a release date and have you seen the price for the ships that use real world money, yes the ships have being well designed graphically inside and out but the cost puts me off as I prefer ED over it as ED is a established mature game in comparison and is still getting content added into it as the recent feature was the Carrier this year.

kudos for that one brave life-saving comma there! thus is the fabric of heroes.

Make a thread when they actually release the game, and do it without P2W features. (Which buying ships for IRL cash certainly qualifies as.)
Not keen on the regular progress resets either.
It drops when it drops.

Why not? If FD is in such a hurry to make ED into other space MMOs, why not just play them? EVE is another place for great player interaction.

:D S

You should totally jump - the mood over in SC-land is far more upbeat (y)
Yeah, its a love-fest there for now. :D

... but to the OP - two completely different games and different visions (I play both). IMO, Chris Roberts has engaged in gross overreach and mismanagement - and his game may never release as he envisioned it. Still, the buggy alpha builds can be entertaining, though they're far more taxing on hardware than ED.

Nah, never boarded the SC hypetrain though there’s a lot of good chatter about it, but that’s a hella long development cycle and P2W features upset me.

I sort of did the opposite, I preordered the super-spesh edition of No Man’s Sky when that first launched only to find I’d paid £60-£70 for a somewhat unfinished indie game. Still loved it, and have to say the developers have done great things bringing the game up to what was initially promised. I’d dip in and out of it every time there was a big update, but then I finally gave Elite a go after much time marvelling at the PS4 launch trailer and full of fond memories of my childhood Amiga and F:E2.

I still love NMS, but I think I’ve realised that ED was what I always wanted it to be. It’s the ‘realism’, the 1:1 Milky Way that I find appealing. Less cartoon sci-fi, more Expanse (which was another reason I suddenly threw money at ED, space is a periodical obsession of mine...)

Firstly what is the OP basing his statement on? Did he hear or read one or two people say "Im quitting ED for SC" or did he read in the SC forums that lots of ED players are moving there? Making a statement without supporting evidence is very trendy but we get enough of that from The Don these days. ED is not dieing, in fact Id say that with the announcement of space legs end of this year / early next, its probably the best time to start playing.

SC will probably be a great game - it might even be better than ED when it releases, but with no sign of when it will release, its not worth my money. Im cheap anyway.

So far haven't seen anything from SC that would make me want to. ED has its wrinkles but is still a great game imo. But if SC is more your cup of synthcaff then sure.
