So funny... *yawn*

Would be cool to have a galnet-news regarding the cause of the issue :) There is so much potential in this :) FD, use it :)

Looks like someone "putting the Lord God to the test" and seeing if they can invoke the Almighty Hand Of Reset again. It might work too, since Jameson access was a KS goal which means some people will see it as something they "paid for" being taken away. That can be a strong motivator when it comes to stocking the whine cellar.

Expect a link to a Reddit thread any moment now.

So...

We need the game to react to our actions and have real effects!

Wait... No, I didn't want it to affect -me- THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

Kind of silly.

If your bothered, counter it.

Why do something ingame about it when you can whine and moan about it on the forums?

After all, if you bleet hard enough the Devs will come and God mod on your behalf.

if it's still in lockdown on Monday I'll swing by with some guys and help out.

Either they paid for it (early backers) or worked to gain access (those who bought the game after release, like me). And yes, it is indeed a strong motivator. We do not want to lose it (even temporarily) due to a bunch of kids who thought that it would be fun.

i must admit, so long as was done using ingame mechanisms then I am not sure what the problem is. I doubt FD will tweak it as it is not like it was an unforseen thing, it will come out of lockdown sooner or later.

Maybe we have other things to do than keeping constant watch over our garages?

I have to say that I'm a total cynic and this surprises me not at all. I expect people to behave badly and stupidly and I am not disappointed.

I would go as far as saying that those groups who recently really threw their rattles out of the pram with a major hissy fit will now go around doing this sort of stuff anywhere and everywhere in retaliation for being ignored God Modded by FD.

In my opinion they care not about role play, they care not about the game, they care not about emergent gameplay, they only care about getting their own way that they are willing to effectively destroy the game for everyone else until they, a vociferous minority, get their own way. This won't happen of course and they will feel even more hard done by and redouble their efforts.

Eventually FD will have to step in and all of a sudden these groups will be gone.

And the posts on the forum will be amazing in their vitriol and angst at the perfidy of FD in preventing these innocent commanders from playing Elite their way as was advertised on the box.

Like I said, I'm a cynic.

So sue me!

Authority ships should be hard as nails with modded weapons, stations should be packing cascade torpedo's and whatever it takes to make people think twice about causing trouble. Since early beta Cmdr's have been screwing around outside stations causing trouble. Why can't stations call for military assistance? Modded Corvettes or Cap ships jumping in if things escalate.

I'm not against groups doing stuff like this, it is a part of the game, am willing to bet it was like shooting fish in a barrel, pathetic resistance from the authorities.

Not a bad idea at all. I'm backing this.

That is the elephant in the room, yes.

Considering that the system is immune to PowerPlay. I don't see any reason in and of itself why Jameson Memorial itself couldn't be immune to the BGS.

I'm not advocating any side in particular.
And to be totally frank now that what caused it is know, it can be reversed. The underlying issue will still persist. But that is an issue that will be brought up in either of the three Bug Report threads that have been made about it.

In short, we'll see. It'll be interesting to watch. And watch is all I'll do personally, since I'm busy this weekend in any case.

Good luck, have fun.

If only it was that easy.
Segovan showed that a small group of active pilots can effectively shut down the station. Now, do-no-gooders like SDC and such have a perfect griefing tool. Just go to any important system (be it Shinrarta, CG system, a system with good missions, a system where you can advance your naval rank quickly etc) and shut it down! After lockdown ends - do it again! And again! And again!
I understand that FD wants players to have control over events, but this will not end good for all parties involved.

You can still access your stored ships though. Lockdown doesn't affect shipyard access.

Example: I have an old Conda parked at Shinrarta. It is completely stripped of anything useful - hell, it has a whopping 0.56 Ly jump range! Suppose I want to bring it out of mothball yard and use it as a mining ship. Well, I can't, I have no outfitting menu!

Mostly accidental, actually. I told most of the guys that there's a HighSec++ base in Shinrarta, and it's owned by the Pilot's Federation. There are always a few system authorities hanging around there, which get killed regularly now.
But who knew that PvE could farm more tears than PvP?

And they told me you can't troll solo players :)

Thank-you for providing me with an entertaining read this morning! :D

i never said FD could not tweak it to make future takedowns more difficult.... ;) just that, they legitimately managed it this time, so they should be allowed to get their win this time.

That's not even a 1st world problem, that's a serious 1st world e-spaceships problem you've got there.

From what i can see you've got 4 options

(i) Help lift the lockdown (which I'll be doing come Monday)
(ii) Sell the anaconda, buy a python or type 6 and fly it somewhere else for outfitting.
(iii) Wait out the remaining 2 or 3 days of lockdown.
(iv) Stamp your feet and hope for a god-mod.

Three or four players bounty-hunting and taking kill pirates and rebel transmissions missions should be able to push a system with a 5m population out of lockdown in a tick. I'm not sure about systems with very large populations though.

I think you are missing a 5. option. Noticing that the way the lockdown works since 2.1 is causing problems and that some changes might make the game more enjoyable.

This forum is for discussions about the game, unsurprisingly people notice something they want to talk about and then they talk about it on this forum.
Like those who think the thermal attacks are killing the game. I think nobody thinks they are "stamping their feet and hope for a god-mod"…

I'm there in the RES right now. Anyone care to join in the fun?
