So how is it that a conda mass locks a type 9?

because gameplay

look,
when you are on a planet, you have to ascent to 2km to get out of masslock - you can then easily hyperjump to the next star if its not blocked by the planet
but if you then low-wake, you are again mass-locked until you are at orbital or drop from supercruise

makes perfect sense?

the mass-lock range of starports is 5km, no matter how big your ship is.

and yes, i hated the MLF of the T9 too, and i am waiting already half a year for the DEVs keeping their promise to review the T9's parameters (we had several patches since then, only caring about the so called "big 3")

Yeah but I was at like 1000-1200 tons where as a conda sits at like 500 tons.

Yeah I think the mass-lock factor is a static one :( I'd much prefer it to be a "universal" and fluid value.

Anacondas or Corvettes weighing over 1,750 or 2,000 tonnes because of all the extra heavy armour and engineer-shielded modules should be able to mass-lock a Cutter filled with just SCB and no armour - not get mass-locked by even a stock Cutter, despite the extra mass.

An area of the game that needs looking over, I think.

I refuse to fly my Conda because it only weighs 400t. I only use it to bring weapons etc. to the engineers. Even if it has a paper-thin superalloy hull it should weigh in at at least 700t. Preferably 1000t.

It doesn't have to be the closest ship that is masslocking you, it can be a ship 4+ km away.

It doesn't have to be a hostile ship masslocking you, it could be a friendly ship.

Sometimes when you are running away (getting attacked), there can be a ship a couple km behind your attacker chasing, trying to scan you (masslocking you).

Sometimes when you are running away (getting attacked), there can be a system authority ship a couple km behind chasing your attacker, trying to help (masslocking you).

Official System Authority policy regarding this:

Technically the Conda is heavier than the T9. It can take more cargo. Ships will mass lock other ships will comparable mass. In fact even a Python can mass lock a T9, happened to me a month ago.

The Anaconda is ridiculously light compared to the T9, base hull value is only 400 tonnes. It also caries less cargo than the T9. Devs made up the mass lock numbers, very little to do with actual hull mass.
