So I fly Upside Down

Pretty much as is says, I fly Upside Down.

I like to enter the stations with the green on my left, everything leaving flys the other way up.

I scoop with the sun on my left, when I arrive at the rear of an orbital I rotate so I'm passing it in my left.

Nope, I'm right handed.

Anyone else have a preference for sides?

I guess I'm disorganized. I fly toward the green, left or right makes no difference to me. I scoop with the sun on the side that it started or on the side that gives me the easiest access to my next waypoint/target.

I do tend to pull up when strafing, which makes no sense. The direction makes no difference, but I find it more comfortable for some reason.

I always scoop with the sun "above" me. Every other way just feels wrong to me. Lol. As for orbitals, I have no preference .

If I understand that correctly, I do it as well - but it makes sense to me as it's due to cockpit visibility in most ships.

Used to fly upside down in a FW190 all the time. It's pitch and banking abilities aren't stellar, but it's got a phenomenal rate of roll. Fly upside down, line up over a B-17 formation (or a player you were going to BnZ) and then dive straight down on them. No matter which way they tried to flee you could simply roll and match it, then pull up into them and finish them off. They'd never catch you and couldn't evade. :)

I basically fly to the strengths of whatever it is I'm piloting. As for docking, you should try FA off yaw docking. Line up with the mailslot, boost in then disable FA and start yawing around. If you time it right you'll be facing 180 as you cross through the mailslot and people will think you're crazy. Even works in an Anaconda.

I do lots of things upside down to have a better view. Scooping, approaching planets, flying around stations.

I dock with the green on either side, left or right matters not to me as long as I don't run into anyone exiting. As for when I exit a station, I usually exit with the green on my right... usually. As for Fuel Scooping, well, I mainly keep the star above me. Don't know why, it's not like I like my cockpit being bathed in sunlight.

And in combat, I usually find myself pulling up. If I had to guess, it's due to the way ship canopies are designed.

I know that spaceflight has probably moved us past this, but for boats coming into port, the rule is "Keep the Red on the Right when returning."

As long as you stay on the green side and not your up down left right side, i am ok with that... finding your ship on your red side in front of my canopy will most likely make me paint your hull black with a laser...

Same for me. Only im a leftie.

But maybe everyone else is flying upside down and youre the one doing it correctly... who knows.

There is no such thing as upside down, in space, you just run the risk of head on collisions in the mail slot is all, I'm a bad enough pilot that no matter which side I am for I've got a 50% chance of actually hitting it. ;)

I did tend to do a roll in most WW2 flight sims every once in a while (well - unless flying a bomber) just to have a look around - pretty handy when there's no radar/scanner.

As for using ships strengths: I find myself pitching down a lot when flying an Asp just because its cockpit allows me to see where I'm going when doing so.

I do something similar...

I've played mostly flight sims and having to rely on instruments because the cockpit was in the way was sometimes hard for me. But with ED i'll fly my Sidewinder or Eagle upside-down no problems. I'll fuel scoop with the sun directly above me, i'll sometimes approach a pad with it directly above me and do half roll as i'm about to touch down. better visibility for me that way and easier to keep the star/sun or the pad in view. Plus its always fun practice trying to fly in what for other people might be a disorienting position. That way when the time comes when I *do* need to fly in that awkward position i know i can do it and it wont give me motion sickness or disorientation or anything like that.
