So, I'm 1500 light years out, where's the stations?

You will, unfortunately, die in cold deep space. Exploration is all about risk and finding new stuff. You will not encounter stations everytime. Plan you stuff carefully. Before jumping to a system you can use Thrudds Trading tool to find if your next stop will cost you a ship or not :)

Ain't nobody dying on this end ;) I've got a sick fuel scoop that solved the human energy crisis.

Thats really unfortunate. With the technology humans have in this game, there would be much more much fruther. You can go 1000ly in a couple hours if you're on a mission.

a 2-300 ton ship can, a 50 billion ton spacestation, notsomuch.

Scoop aint gonna help you much when the last three stars were brown dwarves and you're running low ... take these guy's advice, they've been there themselves ;)

By the way there are a few far out inhabited systems like Aditi and Fehu, but not more than 500 LY methinks. They got cool luxury stations.

And 1500LY is not THAT FAR

And that mission would be "Deliver these parts to those idiots that placed a station away from the trade-routes, before they asphyxiate from the stupidity of trying to keep station life support running so far from parts. Wait... if they're miles from the trade-routes, they probably have no money and will want to pay us in minerals. Screw that. Staying breathing is their problem. Take these parts to Tosche Station instead, it's just down the road. Pick up some power converters while you're there" :D

The Bubble

Radio & not all radio waves some bounce back to Earth ie AM, travel at the speed of light , TV , been a stronger signal will travel out , given ED is set in 3300 You should be able to pick up these broadcast where you are :) , if you have a TV on your ship, but people/stations no. On your own out there Maybe you'll find some ALIENS !

I think it would be hilarious if a situation happened on a station 500 LY out (or 1,286 LY out... like maybe at Orion) like this:

Mom: Go to bed young man! It's past bedtime!
Kid: But Mooooom!!! I'm watching ancient TV programs from Earth!

While I appreciate your concern, and appreciate the advice from all, I'm back safe and sound. You need stations though, I didnt bump one thing and the almost 3000 ly journey my ship made without visiting a station was down to 37% hull integrity.

I'm semi new to elite, not to astronomy, I did haphazardly plan my routes as direct as i could go and fuel scooped every time it was possible.however, if i happened on more than 2 dwarfs in a row I made sure my next jump was to a star that i could scoop.

Don't mind the integrity, that affects only your combat provess - do mind just your systems (mods) to function.

Would love to be able to "tune in" some of those old shows in-game :D

means I want it easier , my ship got hurt

There should clause in GAMES this days for the CAREBEARS , go do something safe, like sleeping This space game is called Elite DANGEROUS

What's the bet ED DEV's already have plans to dumb this game down to appease "THERE SHOULD BE..blah blah.... IT'S ALL TOO HARD CROWD"
NEXT autopilot & station every few light years doh!

If I had my way Radiation leaks given all over damage would mean going though a wormhole (jump drive) would have blow you ship to bits.

EDIT maybe it's time for DARK SOULS in space :)

For me I want a smart game A space game a REAL GAME given its trying to use REAL WORLD data.

Riiight... you contradicted yourself about three times there.

I ran into the same thing today. Federation became hostile to me so I decided to try to find some empire systems. I headed "north" (up, in the galactic plane) and ran out of civilized systems fairly quick. Happily, after limping back into occupied space with my ship's integrity at 49%, I did make 200k + for selling my exploration data. Still haven't found any Empire systems, though.

For empire you need to go down, not up :)
