So, I'm not sure about something specific about Beyond

I said nothing about Q1 - the statement was made that the beige planets would be fixed. Fixed means it was broken. Broken in computer terms means a bug. So therefore advertising it as part of the "free update" is nonsense as it's a bug fix which are always free and are always done.

Not when it's also a significant improvement over what we had before. It's not a bug fix.

OK why am I having to explain what I'm talking about to so many of you? I'm talking about the beige planet fix, NOT anything else you are all making up. Stop making your own narrative and read what is written down!

I just did that again and your post is still nonsense. It doesn't get better by reading it again and again.

You clearly implied that bug fixes will be game updates from now on, knowing that the removal of the beigification is not the only part of the update:

A fix, a bug fix, is part of the free update we're getting. OK I got that. So bug fixes will be game updates from now on?

And you are completely ignoring that the changes to planet tech isn't just a bug fix.

The beige planets are not broken. You can still land on them, explore them etc. It's just that they pretty much all look the same. Also there is nothing broken in the code, it was an unforseen consequence of the system that was put in to help with the dreadful performance issues we had on planets (and I am not talking about consoles, but nearly everyone had them including PC's).

Hopefully the new shaders that are being created will make the planets look much better (they look it) and keep or better the performance gains.

Yes, beige is a visual regression bug. Yes, it is fixed and it is something normal for developer to do. However FD said it is just a side effect of bigger list of changes which essentially is big planetary rendering update. That's why it gets spotlight.

However it is important to remember that while for clients and users bugs are the same, internally it is not a huge bug. It is visual regression introduced by code refactor and upgrade. And such bugs aren't fixed as bugs essentially, but new system is developed from scratch to counter and solve them.

So for developers it is a not a bug fix essentially, but new version of subsystem.

In enterprise software you pay for them big bucks. Yes, you pay twice. Because last time I checked software development is expensive.

Alright then that changes things, your concerns are valid.

Now about 2.5 that was never promised AFAIK they only said 4 updates and that's what they gave, if they did promised 2.5 then can you put a reference to it?

Holy crap, they did say "only 4 expansions" guess I was wrong about that! *Laughs* I retract my statement about not getting update 2.5-2.9
