So now that Sony have confirmed cross-play can support any title with multiplayer...

It would be very nice, the more the merrier...

Also, I would like to have the same CMDR on PC and Xbox, to play alternatively on PC and console, even if this means, of course, basically giving up one of the accounts.

I would be 100% on board for cross play!

I dont think duplicate CMDR names is a big deal. If there are any, they could add an "x" or a "P" to the beginning/end if it is xbox or PS4

Pretty sure there's a unique ID number tied to every account in the background so they wouldn't even need to do that, they would just have the name that CMDR goes by.

David's last comment about this (xBox) back in December 2016 was that there were,

“Practical reasons for various platforms. There are things that we will resolve over time but no promises. Microsoft didn’t ‘stop it’, it’s more complicated than that, there are other people involved."

ah, so now even more 13 year olds can tell me they had sex with my mom. Great....
Funny enough, from what I've seen on the forums and elsewhere, the console Elite Dangerous players seem to be perhaps even more civil and mature than us PC folk in general. Might be due to those who are attracted to Elite Dangerous on the console instead of the more prolific, mainstream titles.

Actually, I think part of the problem would be on Frontier's end and the way they're forced to use these platforms, because there can be duplicate Commander names on the different platforms.

There'd have to be some kind of distinguishing tag, at least in the cases where there is duplication.

I reserved my name on the XBox network a few years back or so, but someone had beaten me to Sony's and uses my name there.

cross play is a no brainer - I'm sure fdev are still keeping an eye on it. Though I'd like them to sort out the networking first - main thing keeping me mostly out of open is watching CMDRs rubberbanding across the system - very distracting.

Because console built-in aimbots is just what PC gaming needs?

I assume you're referring to aim assist and not actual aim bot cheats, because PC has the monopoly on cheats. You can jailbreak and mod a console but it isn't worth it.

However, I've played shooters on consoles and PC, and I can tell you with full confidence that consoles NEED aim assist. I can guarantee that anyone who is actually good with mouse and keyboard wiill headshot a controller peasant before he knows what happened, EVEN if the guy using the controller has aim assist. The pinpoint accuracy doesn't even begin to compare. The only time controllers are arguably better is for action heavy games with lots of platforming, or fighting games (and then the arcade stick is better).

All of my ranting is moot though, because in Elite we don't have aim assist. We get "aim assist" from gimbals and turrets. And whether we use controller, K&M or flight stick, there are probably people who swear by all of them. Flight stick is probably the best though. Idk because I haven't used one.

PS4 players thinking they got that checkmate...

I'd put it this way. It would require more than 5 minutes of work and cost money. So no, no crossplay for Elite in the near future. Not even an announcement for it.

No good for me - I'm Left-handed... Same issue with all of the 'good' gaming mouses, all for Right-handed players.

But a great idea anyway :)
no excuses. get good. If i can play paintball ambidextrously and still annihilate all the 10-year-olds at their birthday party. Time to git gud. I actually played hockey a long time ago with a left-handed stick and i'm a righty

that's bragging rights right there: "I can play with a right-handed gaming setup, but i'm left handed."
Or just keep looking awkward with your arms crossed over themselves....
