I want to have fun with wing friends why cant i teleport my ship to wing leaders location. Then when the wing splits up. I appear back where i joined. How did it happen u ask. Ill use the same argument the telepresence people and frontier are using. Dont think about it. Its for gameplay reasons.

You can't telepresence a spaceship silly. I really can't decide if some of you guys honestly hate fun or just the idea of other people having it.

Why not, as everyone keeps pointing out, the game is not based on 'proper' physics or set in reality in any way.

Explain to me how my friend instantly appearing in my conda 800ly away from his location for some co-op bounty hunting is any different than you instantly appearing, with total disregard to distance, at your last visited station or Trev Dock when you lose your ship?

That has been in the game since pre-release. I don't recall anyone crying "immersion!" over not having to wait hours to respawn.

But, but, that is for gameplay reasons! :D

We need to logically break down what telepresence means what it brings to the game. What it takes away from the game. What other situations are similar in game. Explain why telepresence is okay for multicrew but not for wings. If its to get people together to play with friends i want to play togetjet with my wing friends. Am i going to be a second class federation citizen

I mean, he does have a point. While just moving you in your ship to diffrent location to a friend is not quite the same it can be good for gameplay just as well.

Why not just have a bunch of minigames then, and a lobby, and get rid of the broken shared universe. Just ditch the original vision alltogether.

I am pretty sure telepresence is a temporary solution till you have legs to stretch. As being said over and over again, placeholders.

Teleporting a wing of 4 ships to any location, creates a game-breaking exploit that means that only one player needs to do all the heavy lifting and then they can summon in their friends. If such a system is done, then you completely negate the entire reasoning and existence for Ship-transfer.

As someone else mentioned. The ability to control your ship and all the things you can do with it, is your primary means of interacting with the gameworld, everything is balanced around everyone having a ship and having a certain degree of freedom to fly, where they want, the wing system follows this balance.

Multi-crew on the other hand is very restrictive in terms of what the crew members can do. They are at the behest of the helmsman, who controls, what and where the other players will be/do and what activities they can participate in. In other words, you strip away some of the player freedom and agency in order to play with their friends.

If FDEV did as you asked, then you would completely upset the entire loop of the game and negate almost everything about it, almost done to the concept of flying a ship anywhere, because you could just teleport to your wingmates, no matter where they were.

While the two systems are designed to be enjoyed with other players, they are wildly different in terms of the freedom that they allow other players.

Give wings instant-transfer and you break the entire game. Give multi-crew instant-transfer, and game balance is preserved because they have balanced for this.

I hope that it explains something and that you were genuinely curious and not just being childish and crossing your arms, to which, nothing anyone told you would change your mind.

The whole reason it is instant teleport now is because they don't want people to have to go the same place and make it more conveniant. Reversing back on it would be weird.

I'm sure you can do it like that once spacelegs is here, but the teleport doesn't go away.

So once we have legs, you'll need to meet up before joining someones crew?

Can't imagine people will complain about that, after all, this is the ONLY WAY IT CAN WORK apparently.

Sure, but what happens if we ever actualy control our commander, and affect the world using that?

It works right now, but if there is ever to be any valid space legs gameplay, then this is a dumb idea.

I see multi-crew as a gap-filler for that situation: it allows you to participate in actions far from your current location without violating the sanctity of distance. It's more of a separate game session than part of you continuing travels, just that it allows you to keep some of the benefits.

Yeah, and you will have to walk all the way from SagA*. It's a really well thought-out concept right there, fully fleshed out and with absolutely no impediment to enjoyment of game content.

So my friend is 1000lys away. I can play with him instantly with multicrew. But if i want to play in a wing with him i have to go 1000lys there and then back again afterwards.... sounds balanced...
