So them OverCharged Plasma Launchers....

Just tested it, the C2's take 11.5 mw per shot, while the c1's take about 9mw. That's about 5.6 DPE, which isn't great, and is nowhere near as good as the c2's, which do about 7.4 DPE. That is somewhat mitigated by the pre-charge, however. By contrast, c1 rails have 8.8 DPE.

Notably, a pair of C2's would be using 12.7MW/sec from the PCs alone, which is almost double the production rate of a Phantom.

Huh, that's considerably less than the x17 draw figure I'd thought it was before. I admit I rarely think of weapons in terms of DPE, though.

When I ran the C2 calculations on a Courier, I came up with roughly the same MW/shot at 12.5. Now, here's the kicker - if the base Distro Draw for an uncharged shot is 1.25 MW (MJ/s), and they take 1.8s to charge up... we get 2.25 MW/shot.

...So where's the factor of 10 coming from? 🤔

I did create an Issue Report on this apparent discrepancy - twice - in the past, but both times the issue expired. Here's the last one if anybody's curious:

I don't think it's discrepancy, just an omission of what the fully charged shot draw is...which is not surprising given these are the first 'charge-up' style weapons in the game that can also be fired rapid-fire). Given the weapon does 17x damage when fully charged, it's pretty easy to understand why there's that large factor in place. It's interesting that it's only a factor of 10 as opposed to 17, though....

Their only flaw is their low heart damage.
Thats strange...
I use a pair of class 1 and class 2 advanced chargers on my bug killer 'vette... and they're damned good at blasting the heart out, especially if you go with the premium ammo.
The downside is the shot flight time so you have to try and compensate for whatever way the bug/ship is moving
The real challenge with the chargers is shooting down scouts....

Challenge? With salvation chargers?
It has projectile speed of 6km/s which is nearly instant. They are much easier to use than gauss for killing scouts

Yeah, with trailing mode they're basically hitscan. Still prefer gauss myself, but with the chargers it's nice to be able to do damage to rando players if you have to. Despite the distro draw, they're pretty decent for messing around in PvP.

They're nice against evasive players, but hardly the new meta, so OP shouldn't have to worry. If anything, they should worry more about practicing, instead of what another person may be using.

OMG I forgot that one :)
Why is it that plasmas cause so many more panic shields than shards or gauss ?
I guess because the plasmas do so much damage in one shot, they instantly drop the hull below the panic trigger level. The other weapons give the hull a bit of time to regenerate between shots.
