It's pretty much what the Type-7 should have been. Extra capacity, medium hardpoint for a seismic launcher, and fits on a medium pad. I'm definitely going to be getting one of these. My poor Type-7 may never see the light of space again.
In fact, we have not been shown neither the utility slots nor its speed. Since the inscriptions on the screen during the flight over the planet (left inscription deep space) cast doubt on the whole picture.Arf didn't said... so we can only speculate
What was the response ? On Stream Arf only said August, no mention of early access.I am hearing T8 is early access starting in Aug, not sure if that is already widely known. One of the ED streamers sent an email to Fdev asking and got a response.

That means Cobra mk2 with performance as per lore in December as a special treat for everyone who has upset FDev enoughIt makes sense:
P2 - May/Aug --> early access / full release
T8 - Aug/Oct
3rd ship - Oct/Dec
4th ship - Dec/March
Considering the last update of 2024 with the mysterious "new feature" would probably be in December, the above schedule fits nicely. The December will also mark 10 year anniversary for ED and 40 anniversary for Elite series.
I got into the game too late for fuel and repair costs, to me the top feature of the T7 was that it was almost impossible to accidentally lose the interdiction battle against an NPC.Type-7 had it's role at the very beginning of this game, when we had to calculate repairs and fuel costs (YES, FUEL COSTS) so the trading can be lucrative.
Type-7 was economical with fuel & repairs which were astronomical back then. That was it's purpose, as a viable stepping stone to Type-9. No one had any intentions to keep it after acquiring T-9.
Then, sometime in the ~first year or so, FD drastically cut down fuel & repair costs, and it became obsolete.
The Type-7, that does not fit a Medium pad just because of being very slightly too tall, has been, for years now, crying for:It's pretty much what the Type-7 should have been. I was a beta back well back in the day but I’ve only really played on and off over the last 10 years. Way back then the T7 was a game changer in terms of making money when you jumped to that. Like someone said it’s amazing in Supercruise - it’s literally impossible to be interdicted unless you want to be.That means Cobra mk2 with performance as per lore in December as a special treat for everyone who has upset FDev enough

Yea, bit weird that a medium ship with that shape can carry more cargo that the brick that is the Type 7.

Yeah. I still really really dislike that change. Used to absolutely love my T7 back then, spent lots of hours in it.
the Type-7 is a medium-sized medium pad ship that is slightly too tall to enter a medium-sized bay.
The general impression I've gotten about the Type-8 is that while it may be shorter than the type-7, it's wider and longer without the prongs. It's difficult to tell without decent plan views, but a quick analysis of the the closest thing we got to the bottom plan view, which allows the use the 5mx5m cargo hatch to measure the ship, gives me a "useful" cross section (aka without wings, greebles, and prongs) of about 100mx40m, vs the Type-7's 81mx32m.Oh, i'm well aware of that (and the same goes for T6 which is a small ship a bit too tall to fit into a small hangar)
The space took by the T8 prongs seem a bit too much (like 40% of the total ship length) to allow the T8 to fit 406t of cargo along with the size 5 PP/FSD/Thrusters - not that i'm complaining
I've put a T7 on a settlement's large pad and while it is narrower, it's also a bit taller and a bit longer than the T8 (without prongs of-courser which i dont expect to hold anything usable in terms of capacity, only thrusters, heat radiators and a pair of small hardpoints maybe)
Noting the date of the OP in each thread, if one were to be closed then it would be that one - as it was started later....Do we really need two threads for the same topic?
The Type-8
I’m surprised nobody’s posted something yet, or maybe they did somewhere else and I didn’t see it. What do you all think of her? Looks nice, has a Star Wars-y smuggling adventure vibe for sure.forums.frontier.co.uk
upon release the Type 10 had around 54 threads, per day !.Do we really need two threads for the same topic?
