No. I think he's dead and behind the curtain the "honorable" Senators are fighting a dirty war about the succession.
When I can play the game (which has been a bit of a challenge the past couple of weeks):
A bit of 1, 2, 3 and 7. Not big on the illegal/questionable professions (e.g. smuggler, pirate and assassin) and I had one try and mining and never revisited - although tempted to go looking for some Space Diamonds...
did some rare trading to get going now I mainly explore.

One of my CMDR's is an Alliance-aligned trader who flies only armed ships and carries a kill warrant scanner. He loathes pirates (part of his backstory) and will go to great lengths to kill them when he encounters them). He also does some exploring on the side.
My other is an Imperial-aligned bounty hunter and mercenary (but she'll only fight for causes she actually believes in - it's not all about the money).
