So what exactly IS being added in 2.4 beta? Anything?

Other than bug fixes and the like is there anything in the beta or is it all back end fun for the devs to mess with before they "return" the thargoids?

No explorer upgrades? No trading upgrades? No UI upgrades? Anything at all?

What have they been doing all this time? I take it they'll just drip the faucet as they go?

Have they spent all their effort into designing more art assets and less time in actual game design/ui and gameplay? That is what it seems like the past year.

I know they told us a few very basic and limited improvement at Lavecon but will those be in the 2.4 beta?

Bug fixing, a few QoL features, probably a ton of new assets, alien space stations/ships/outposts etc etc. Would be surprised if we see anything else until after the alien content is out and running smoothly.

I'd say a slim chance that we get a few ships, although I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can fly some soft of modified thargoid SLF at some point.
 
I'm expecting very little indeed, other than the thargoid stuff.

Really just waiting for the patch after this one personally, as that is supposed to have core improvements at last.

Ton of new assets. I can't complain about a lot of new things to discover. But I can complain about the lack of progress in the core game mechanics.

The SAR stuff, the repair limpets are all welcome but such a small addition. Limpet synth is nice too but these are all tiny things.

What about the actual trading interface overhaul, statistics - interfaces that don't require us to use 3rd party websites and LEAVE THE GAME to PLAY THE GAME. When are those things coming?
 
2.4 is part of a paid expansion.

As (if I'm not mistaken) Thargoids will be available to everyone, I'd assume there must be something extra for horizons players, even if as meager as in 2.3.

There are quite a few things coming down the pipe - New contacts (Science and Salvage), new Limpets, a reason to Suicidewinder and not rebuy, a means of emptying out your fleet to pay rebuy costs, some new engineers, some new weapons, and some things we won't get to see to post spoilers of, so you'll have to wait until early afternoon after release day to read all about it here.

A restructuring of the message box, and probably lots of other little odds and ends as well. Certainly not "almost nothing", and I'm sure there will be at least one new way to create grief for new players and those who don't play "your [general non-specific 'your'] way" in there as well.

I haven't heard about this "Science" contact. Interesting. NOW my interest is piqued.

All the other "fixes" are basic things such as law etc that should have been done a long time ago. Those changes are all welcomed but quite a bit late if it were designed right from the start. So they are inconsequential "fixes" that just reduces frustration. Why I'm actually concerned is that there is nothing new AGAIN except more assets to interact with. Art and sound .. more eye candy but just like the whole new thargoid ruins - it'll be interesting for about 2 days and then back to doing the same core boredom.

Just thought I would mention that there are no new engineers coming. There maybe more blueprints available though.
 

Seen the first link and its pretty basic and tells you mainly nothing. Other than yay we (FD) get all the fun in the back end creating community goals and allowing thargoids to interdict and fight. You'll trigger some events and that will be AFTER beta.

What is coming IN THIS BETA that is any different than the core game right now other than bug fixes? I guess not too much..
