So, what have you learned this weekend?

To use the chaff and point defense, learned from the many git gud posts in the forum since the update [redface]

Don't flame me, I've been doing some bounty hunting before, but my main trade is exploring, so I'm yet to learn the intricacies of serious combat (but getting there).

Next step, using FA off...

No worries. I don't use SCB, chaff, heatsinks, et cetera. Basically nothing ammo/limited supply based, and I've gotten along just fine in combat in my exploration Vulture.

They can't shoot you if they're dead. ;)

I've learnt that with engineers, the grind has made the game take the same amount of time as real life. It takes me 40 minutes to drive to the nearest city where I live, and it takes me 40 minutes to move 150 ly in an fdl, including docking to replace fuel scoop with other modules.
I dream of the day they introduce a taxi service into this game :D At least I could spend that 40 minutes doing something that doesn't feel as grindy as an RL day job.

That ED players think multi-layered RNG Korean MMO Grind Game Mechanics are 'fun' and 'game content'.

No. I would just assume people invested in something will defend it. It's a coping mechanism.

Why do people so often seem to speak for others? Can't you guys at least use the word "some" when making your generalizations?

I personally don't care for the "RNG" casino elements all that much either, but Frontier (via Sandro) took a firm stance on it and said that it will remain in the game. I still think it's a great game overall though.

At least they've made it so that you can gain rep with the Engineers through other ways than just the "craft and trash" mechanic like it was, and they will be implementing a way to work toward specific bonus special effects instead of relying on luck. So, at least there's that.

That i am actually more competent than i thought i was.

That without having the Eng mods that NPCs have/ HAD and managing the potent and positive new AI they have with those mods ---that offered me some serious feedback.

Yet I know id not be at all interested in playing regularly at that level of intensity even on a weekly basis.

Standing ovation to the Devs et al for the positive decision made today re NPC Eng mods.

I think you've hit the nail on the head regarding internet discussion in general. There is a tendency to use strong rhetoric that does not feature ambivalence or humility but seeks to win an argument. Hence the frequent use of 'weakness' metaphor such as 'cry' and 'whine' rather than an attempt at forming reasonable dialectics that feature overlaps, compromises, apologies or admitting ones argument is flawed :)

I learned if you are going to trade, mine or do anything other t han combat, just make sure you have full A rated shields, boosters and MINES for when you run.. it'll buy you enough time to escape.

I'm glad I didn't go to a res and battle dumb NPC's to jack up my combat rating to ELITE. Haven't even worked on my combat rank that much. Been interdicted twice won both. beat one interdiction. Haven't had any trouble with A.I. yet. Could see where if someone boosted their rank to Elite killing the pre 2.1 NPC's might be having issues. Maybe if Dev would let them set their combat rank back a bit (other than a reset) it could make some happy.

I learned that the amount of whine coming out of a lot of people on this morning will use up the total amount of cheese available on the planet. Maybe we should see about getting a cheese planet in the game. I also learned a surprising number of people don't have the capability or the willingness to adapt to change, they scream and whine and cry like little babies. Learn and adapt, is all I can say now.

I also learned there are some bugs in the game (delivery change has some bugs), and I also learned to driving around planets killing some skimmers can be a fun change of pace. I also learned I get motion sick driving around in VR on planets. I also learned that winning a tough drawn out fight beats killing 100000000 spinning potato AIs even if I don't make as much money. I am still out on if trekking all over to find all the mats is a good thing, but at least it is forcing me to try different parts of the game I hadn't before and I am finding new things I like, so that is plus.

Ok so without multi quoting those detailed replies...for which I thank you for taking the time to write...and because I keep messing up when trying to do it and clear the screen. One single reply.

Ok so yeah I am still here nonetheless...regardless how I come across, 2 weeks has been enough to give me the bug and I can be somewhat over zealous at times...aspergers can be a pain sometimes, apologies. This reply will be of a different tone because I had my first surprise in this game...that being the speed at which a response came from FD. I am not new to gaming, on that you can be certain and that speed is something I have very rarely seen...many excuses but not solutions which come with the promise of "later". I am not often surprised in life...the novelty means I will now reserve judgement until I give this another shot, perhaps with a somewhat thicker skin.

I already have friends here who migrated from other games so it's not like I don't know anyone...they been at me fer months to come here although to my mind, coming here wasn't logical. I'm a hardcore pvp only player and usually fairly good at what I do in other games...to allow a single player to beat me simply won't do...I'd never live it down.

So thank you for the response and apologies for coming across like a bollox ^^

Told ya so.... ;)

Hope they leave the AI intact though. At worst reduce some of the numbers of high level ones. Honestly, once you get the hang of combat, the old AI makes you prefer shooting rocks. At least they don't pretend to shoot back.

I learnt :-

1. To farm barnacles to get materials you mode swap to reset the barnacle.
2. To farm the anaconda to get materials you mode swap to reset the dropped loot.
3. To get the materials for engineers from missions on the Mission board you mode swap to reset the board.
4. After mining mode swap to sell your gods via the mission board.
5. If a res site goes quiet mode swap to reset the instance.

Basicly I learnt that Fdev doesn't care about the mode swap exploits enough to bother fixing them, so why should we.
