I just had a long detailed read of the ED to see what it has to offer.
ED is going to be fairly focused in certain areas, which I think is good.
It'll allow multiple ship ownership, but no stations ownership and generally you'll be a pilot of small to medium sized ships.
It seems to focus on you flying around exploring, fighting and some trading much like how Freelancer works in concepts, but looks like it'll be a lot better.
This is perfect for me as that's the sort of thing I enjoy most.
Fighting, some trading and exploring.
Now there ARE other things I like to do, but not as part of the same game. so there's other games that fulfill that desire for me as follows:
X3:AP (generally the X3 series)
When I want to build a sprawling empire, own space stations and generally play Excel spreadsheets in space, this is the game for me.
I'm pretending X: Rebirth never happened (I even managed to get a refund, it did what it was intended to do very badly), not that it's anything like the previous X games anyway (and was never meant to be).
Sins of a Solar empire:
When I feel like mass battles spanning over multiple systems and generally strategy wargame type stuff, this is the place to go.
That pretty much covers my space PC game wants.
How about you?
